Announcing A Contest · 4:42am Mar 20th, 2017
HELLO!
For some time now I've been itching for some stories in a certain vein, and while I think ASOSA did scratch some of that itch I want to see what some other people can come up with. So I'm going to start a contest to promote the proliferation of the kind of stories that I just love and cannot get enough of.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE 'I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU' CONTEST
Start date: March 20th, 2017
Deadline: April 17th, 2017
RULES
Story must be created and published within the timeframe of the contest. Pre-existing stories are not allowed!
The story must focus on emotions of loss or moving on. Be it in the form of a lost family member or a relationship that has moved on in some respect.
The story can feature any characters from the show, including background ponies, and characters from Equestria Girls. OC's can be tertiary characters or the party who has passed on or moved on from the main character's life, but they CANNOT be the main character.
The story must be over fifteen-hundred words.
Once published send a PM to me with a link to the story so I can read it.

ENTRIES
The Third Name by AlicornPriest
Vows Made in Wine by MrNumbers
This is a bit off topic, but have you ever seen "Your Name" it's an anime movie that's about this kinda stuff. It hit me right in the feels too. I bet you'd like it.
P.S.
If you do choose to watch it, for the love of everything good in this world go in blind.

I've heard of it, I know I have. I'm just not that big of an anime fan personally. The tenants of Eastern storytelling don't appeal to me.

Nobody can force you, of course, but I absolutely second the recommendation.
You currently have no rule as to when the story was first published. That would allow people to PM you an older, pre-existing story they have. Is that the intent? I figure it isn't, but you may wish to clarify in the rules.

Whoops! Thank you for catching that! Post has been updated!
I already wrote exactly this thing and I'm not interested in writing another or joining the contest. But if that's what you're interested in reading, you can get your fix while everyone's writing for the contest.
Best of luck scratching that itch.
Potentially interested.
Hmm, I've got a story idea that I've briefly bounced around that would fit this perfectly. I might just give this a shot!
(and having a timeline will be a nice kick in the butt!)
Is there a maximum wordcount limit? (I don't ask because I want to write something long, but because inevitably in contests that allow a fair amount of writing time, you will get the person who submits a novella against the other entrants' short stories, and you might save yourself some sanity by setting limits up front.)

No maximum word count. I'm a quick reader and quality isn't always tied to quantity, so I just want to see what people can come up with given the time and their imaginations.

A single month is a fairly tight limit, for some of us at least. I certainly couldn't write a novel in a month - even if it was November.
But then, some authors do seem able to produce untold millions of words at lightning pace. And not necessarily bad words, even.
Fuck it, sure
This contest spurred me into writing something I might otherwise have left languishing in a story pile somewhere infinitely. Something that is pushing my authoring abilities to their hardest, and that enough people liked to get into the feature box. So the contest has served its purpose.
Now I really need to finish that last chapter in time for BaeroRemedy to read it.
Results?
Not to be pushy or anything, but we haven't heard anything about results for over a month.
