My fellow Americans. I am breaking my political silence for a very important message. It's one you've probably seen a lot of these blogs in your feed, or will see under this one. Still, the message bears repeating:
Today is Election Day. No matter who you support, vote if you can.
Even if you find the presidential race to be the classic Parker-Stone dilemma of the giant douche and the turd sandwich, remember that it is not the only decision on the ballot. There are senators and House representatives up for reelection; state-, county-, and/or city-level officials to vote for; and propositions to decide upon. Your voice does matter. (And, at the very least, if a given election doesn't pan out the way you hoped it would, you'll know that you fought against it.)
To those of you who aren't in the States, sorry for cluttering your feeds with our national drama. It should be over by the end of today. Theoretically. No promises.
Oh please, American national drama is never over.
I've been trying to tell people that don't want to vote the same about the local elections. It isn't just the presidents on the ballot.
4290184 This. So much this.
Remember, it's everyone else's fault for not voting in better politicians in the past. Don't be one of them by voting today!
Amen. Go and do the right thing, Americans!
We stand a chance of getting legal weed around here today, at least, and the Senate could change hands.
But up-ballot is an utter sham, in which a powerful oligarch chose her own preferred opponent and then used that opponent to scare primary and general voters into supporting her and only her.

I have to agree, and I would add one more thing;
If you didn't vote, you don't get to complain
"... It should be over by the end of today...."
Yeah, but I remember 2000. Al Gore having to be forcefully sedated and unchained from his chair in the Oval Office. Hours worth of polishing to get his fingernail scratches out of the Resolute desk from when he was dragged away. The sandbagged bunkers deep within the Executive Office Building having to be cleared, one painful pink slip at a time. You know, they still find the occasional staffer who had 'gone native' during the retreat, clutching a rusty stapler and asking in a raspy voice, "The recounts. Did we win the recounts yet?"
Just kidding. Al Gore finally gave up on December 12, giving a remarkably good-natured concession speech after only a month of fierce cubicle-to-cubicle warfare.
Voting took forever today. There was that big "every choice is wrong" vote at the top of the ballot, but the rest of the races had a clear better choice.

i actually burst out laughing reading that article, because for a supposed 'left-wing' writer, he carries more water for Republican voters and leaders than the entire goddamn RNC. All totally blameless for nominating a proto-fascist corncob! They'd never have picked him over the rest of the republican primary clown car if not for EVUL MEDIA!!
Like, damn, change a few leftie terms-of-art and it could be a Ross Douthat column. I swear leftists are getting lazier every year...
4290481 Have you considered that the media really is carrying water for Clinton, and so far in the polls it's actually backfiring on them?
I did my duty, as I always do. I voted for a billion ballot propositions and even judicial posts. I do my duty even when it sucks. Just because it's my duty and I do it.
4290371 ...unless you were barred from voting with voter ID laws that are only enforced against your race, in which case, complain very loudly where the ACLU can hear.
I may be a bit bitter, and I'm not even bitter on my own behalf: my vote was counted.
