Whilst the reactions to the small time travel arc in my fic Twilight's Twinlight has been met with mixed responses, one commeter said something rather interesting.
Spoiler Warning, if you haven't read the latest chapters do not read further.
Anyway, their comment goes as follows (with the last bit taken out because you don't really need to read that yourselves):

, what an amazing twist. As I never had a chance to follow the series, which I could easily do now, so I'm not sure if this is a fan thing or official, Ken had become Twilight's favorite pony, next to Star Swirl. As Clover she could help bring the kingdom into being, heck, she could effectively become the adopted mother of both princesses, if you don't have a origin plan for both sisters. A memory spell could be placed on both sisters, not to remember Ken is actually Clover nor their adoptive mother. Between the creation of the kingdom and the rule of both sisters, there is no sign how this happen. You could give a background to this important moment in their history. How Clover after being reveal an Alicorn, a pony of all three tribes, could be elected to become the ruler of the new kingdom, as a sign of unity between all three tribes, with a member of each tribe serving as council members. Later, Clover could encounter both orphan Celestia and Luna, adopting, becoming their adoptive mother, rising them as heirs to the throne of the kingdom. Then the return of Clover, by having the appearance of Discord for the first time. As stated Discord once siege control of the kingdom, until both Celestia and Luna used the Elements to turn him into stone. Discord appears, he fights Clover to siege control of the kingdom, Clover falls in battle, causing her body to be destroyed and her soul sent back to the future, in the aftermath her adoptive daughters discover the Elements and defeat Discord and ascend to the throne left empty after the apparent death of their adoptive mother.
So, here's my question: Would you like me to write some kind of an AU side story following this idea, or not? It wouldn't be part of the main story, but altogether different.
So, what's your vote? Cast them in the comments and we'll see what happens.

That sort of thing is the maximally fleshed-out form of my "do it as a side-story" suggestion. Shame that it would be AU to the main story but "hell yeah, I'd read it".
(The idea in my suggestion being that, if it weren't AU, the main story would basically gloss over the side-story and only re-state the relevant details... similar to how, if you read, say, book 2 or 3 of the Harry Potter series, they quickly get you up to speed in chapter 1 and, when necessary, re-state bits from the previous books, so readers don't have to read book 1 first if they only own some of the later ones and the library doesn't have any copies in.)

this is a idea worthy of looking at the only real problem I see is the time line as to the age of the princesses they are way older than this point in time. but if as you say keeping this as a side story would work and you code even throw a few hints around simply as letting Ken comment about something she should not know about or a detail she should not have knowledge of.
personally I say go for it.
PS a side question I am wondering when your must will steer you back to one of your other story's I think you know the one I am talking about as I kind of encouraged you to look at the story line. 5 score.

Yes,I would read it, but still prefers to this side story to by part of main story.
],after that we have the fight against Discord, her "death" and back to the present.Here I have hope for a touching reunion scene between a mother and her daughters
(after expected confusion). That for main story as for side story she will show us exactly how it happened event after event.
For example, in the main story we will have just another chapter or two where Ken will befriends a pony from the past ( Smart Cookie and Private Pansy), and after that ''after years chapter'' before the fight with Discord,where Ken will look back past times and events. (unions of three tribes, the discovery of her secret and making her a symbol of union and after years of real leaders of the kingdom,
adoption/giving birth to Celestia and Luna [I think that in giving birth version her mate had used the unfinished ascension spells to become a alicorn and as a result he lost his memory and gone mad changing in to Discord

This can be explained much more simply. Celestia and Luna saw the death of Ken ,and after years Celestia met Twilight that reminded her unicorn versions of her mother,therefore they considered Ken only as Twilight copy that in cosmic coincidence has the same name as their mother.This also explains why Celestia wants him to change the name and Luna says that his name is not strange at all.

Once you made Ken Clover the Clever, this went from a fun little distraction to what could be a complete story arch, with smaller story archs inside. I think it would be wrong to not explore it.
As long as it doesn't distract from the plot you have planned.
