    Watch (This) Space

    Hello everyone!

I've been gone on hiatus for a few years. I stopped watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic in the middle of the seventh season. But a few months ago, my interest was rekindled. And the last two seasons were fantastic. The high point, for me, is the new characters -- the Student Six -- who breathed fresh life into the show.

Where I Hang My Hat IV: Hangman's Alley · 9:03pm May 31st, 2016

For those of you who enjoy Fallout 4, but aren't blessed with the ability to play it on the PC, this week brings good news. Starting today, mods have come to Fallout 4 on the XBox One. And one of the first mods available is the first mod that I installed for my own gameplay enhancement: Full Dialogue Interface. You can read more about it here.

And, of course, PC users can find the mod on the Nexus here.

One of my favorite parts of Fallout 4, as you know, is settlement construction. Sadly, the Far Harbor DLC did not bring the elevators and other toys that sources had leaked might be upcoming. All indicators are that these are going to be added in upcoming Wasteland Workshop expansions. Far Harbor gave us primarily barns and fish racks instead. Underwhelming as far as settlement building is concerned, but I have been putting the outhouses to good use.

In the same vein as previous "Where I Hang My Hat" blogs, I would like to show off another of my settlements. Up this time is Hangman's Alley, which is the first settlement that I put serious effort into. Unlike the resort that I turned The Slog into, or the modernistic tower that dominates my Graygarden, I went with the ramshackle wasteland aesthetic when building up Hangman's Alley. The settlement uses a lot of basic building pieces and incorporates the original structures in an effort to catch the feel of a post-apocalyptic shantytown that has grown up.

As always, my settlements are not in the same league as some of the utterly amazing works out there, but I am quite pleased with my own work. I hope you like what I have to share.

First, however, is a little preview that Coyotecyb has put out for the soon-coming Chapter 12 of his impressive augmented and voice-acted version of the Fallout: Equestria audiobook. Check it out!

In a couple days, I will be posting my Afterthoughts blog for "Applejack's 'Day' Off". For now, please indulge me as I show off my Fallout 4 settlement: Hangman's Alley! :raritywink: As before, clicking on the screenshot will take you to a full-sized image.

Let me know what you think. And again, please share pictures of the settlements you are most proud of, or any screenshots from your game that you would love to share!

So, will PS4 be getting mods or what?

More impressive than anything I can make. I just make boxes and such and try to make an area that the npc's can't reach so I always have a bed of my own.

Snazzy place.

Pretty impressive there, mate. That power armor paintjob is spectacular.

You even make Hangman's Alley look nice!:raritydespair:

My latest attempt at Hangman's Alley is just a mess of me trying to figure out why all the settlers are standing in a cluster around the cooking station after leaving the recruitment beacon on too long, resulting in severe overpopulation and beds everywhere I can fit them. ...and one clever flame thrower trap. I tried setting up my first shop a while back, but the settler I assigned to it is probably still by the cooking station.

I am no settlement manager, nor architect, but after looking through my screenshots I still have a few bits I was apparently proud enough to take a picture of.

After finding a robot that dispenses free, ice-cold beer, I had to send him to one of my settlements and build a bar for him. This was a bit tricky since I couldn't get him to move once he arrived. Had to build the bar around him.

Not really settlement building but a small detail I'm proud of. MacCready gave me this little toy soldier that meant a lot to him. I immediately found the perfect place to put it to make sure it didn't wind up getting accidentally scrapped.

My most recent project on my Survival character. Got a settlement by the rail, why not make a train station?

Also working on my own personal base at the drive-in theater giving those new concrete structures a try. It's not done so I don't have any pictures yet. Maybe during your next "where I hang my hat" post.

Diarchs yes. I love this mod.

I'd talk about my own settlements, but... I can't do anything comparable to this. If everything functions and my settlers are happy, I'm back to adventuring (at least in part because I am a poor builder in general).

Those screenshots are impressive (though you might notice one isn't entirely SFW), and respect given to what you can do. I've no screencaps of my own settlements (and nothing in my settlements worth screencapping), so have a screencap of my first playthrough character at the wrong time of day.

Such grey. This street needs a mural.

hi hi

As far as using the existing structures and trying to make everything feel like it is a wasteland shantytown, I'd say you did a good job. As for being grownup, I dunno, it also looks like something that my inner 12 year old would have loved to bits. :pinkiehappy:

ScreenShot4503 is probably my favorite, in part because the entire thing fits together so well, even a part that stands out does so in a way that doesn't seem garish or unfitting. It's like one of the residents took a piece of color and an out of the way corner and said, "This spot is for relaxing."

Well it looks like your putting all that lighting to use.
It certainly is a nice addition to put up lighting in ones settlement.:coolphoto:

PS4 will be getting mods in June. The full dialogue mod and weapon holstering should help increase the enjoyment of the base game by ten fold.

Hangman's Alley should be easy enough to defend with the chokepoints to enter the settlement. Nice settlement building space efficiency. It looks amazing.

I really need to go back, find out what building mods you use, and download them. The only thing that feels better than making something as cool as that is doing it on survival mode.

I can only imagine what it'd be like seeing that lovely settlement snugly nestled inside one of the more war-torn areas of the Commonwealth.

I've only taken a single screenshot from my current FO4 game; I was out, wandering Far Harbor, trying to make my way towards the Nucleus, when I stumbled across, well, what I found in my screenshot.

Here you go: Skullface Gnome's Mini-Altar of Creepiness

I don't know why, but just this tiny altar, with a few ruined books, the candles, the skulls and bones... I just was like "Okay, this is something I never expected to just randomly find wandering the island, and now I want to go far, far away from this, because damn that be scary."

Maybe later I'll take a few screenshots of my Coastal Cottage, where I created a multi-story "Tower of Junk"-style hotel. It's this tall building made from different materials, to get this weird wasteland fusion look that makes me go "This looks horrible" & "I would totally live there" at the same time. :pinkiehappy:

Apart from all the smashed windows, the barns are fantastic, assuming you avoid the pre-made stuff. Some parts are a little stubborn to fit together, but using intermediate pieces can overcome that. Barn pieces include solid walls, roofs and floors, and you can easily build rooms tall enough to hold vendors stalls. The buildings can be quite cosy!

So kkat, now that mods have been relised, can you take the best mods and put them as a list for survival mode, mods that are not game breaking and that would add to the experience like graphics, customization, weapons and foes. also maybe somthig cool like weapon skins and when it is made, can you tell us when thy have multiplayer

3987162 PS4 is next on the list for mods, they should come sometime in June

You know, I never noticed this before, but all the bricks in those walls are really, really tiny. Just weirdly so. Bricks are usually about... what, nine inches long? And three inches thick?

Nice. You dress up your settlements much more than I do. Then again, my game crashes if I try to use the signs or glowing letters (pretty much any of the decorations you put on a wall) so I tend to go with pure game mechanic functionality. That and the giant concrete wall around Starlight Drive-In.

Damn. Your settlements never fail to awe.

Well done. :3
