downer news pisses me off · 1:56am Jan 29th, 2016
Okay, many of you have no doubt heard about how Font Brothers is sueing hasbro for something as small as font use. Well, it seems this isn't the first time someone's sued hasbro for something that sounds absolutely stupid.
While looking on youtube to see if any news videos were talking about this latest BS, i found several videos about someone sueing hasbro over a toy rodent because it had the same name as her.
This is just one of the videos i found about this shit. Oh, sure. So, if i see an animal on Littlest Pet shop with my real name, i should sue hasbro for using my name because, you know, hasbro clearly decided, on we'll use this person's name just cos and not care how they feel.
News flash: Names can be chosen at random! Just how can she prove they did it based on her? Answer, she can't. It just goes to show some people think too much of themselves that, when they hear anything about their name being mentioned, even when it isn't even about them, they just go ahead and decide it is.
Faulkner doesn't seem to have even questioned about whether the rodent wasn't based on her and has just assumed it. How vain can you get?
I might be missing something here, but that is most likely because it sounds so stupid to me that someone would make such a fuss over something that, as far as i can see, is coincidence.
Now, if you'll excuse me, i'm going back to working on a story to get my mind off this bullshit
i know. i choose my names at random all the time.
Wow I... I actually feel physically ill after watching that
WOW! Someones suing Hasbro for using a font without a "special license"? Seriously? its a stupid font, who cares, like seriously, this makes me mad. They probably just want money. Thats why most people sue in the first place.
I don't know I think Faulkner the hamster is much better looking.
that witch is just plan ugly maybe she is jealous over the looks.
I remember hearing about this, it still makes me want to slap that one. Seriously? You're getting upset over nothing and for no reason. What an ass.
*looks at article*
Oh so someone is suing over something stupid as a name coincidence... That's fucking bull...
*Reads closer*
Oh, Fox News? Oh that explains so much. I am not political. My parents are liberal, but I don't have an opinion, but I find Fox News stupid and while extremely aggravating and annoying, is anyone who is remotely familiar with the bullshit that is covered on Fox News or it's rumors, even remotely surprised about this? Is this such a surprise given that there are rumors about this very news source?
Darn! If only my names IRL and online weren't so generic as to be ridiculous I could totally trademark everything even remotely similar. (J/k)
Although, to be fair, my name is rather common. Not as common as my father's but still I'm sure living in the same city as a convicted/registered pedobear, animal abuser, or a drug dealer is much worse if you have the same first, middle, and last name. Thank God for Social Security Numbers and DBA forms.
This one should be thrown out since if it goes to court and Hasbro loses it will set a very bad precedence with naming conventions. I can see that newscaster losing her job and Fox distancing themselves from her if things start to go poorly.
Pretty sure it's not font use but font redistribution, as the file was in a place on their website that could be downloaded by anyone with the link.
I'm generally very pro-copyright reform, but copyrighting fonts doesn't seem any more outlandish than most copyright claims. The name thing is dumb, though.
