Godzilla-tober Movie Streams: Godzilla X Mechagodzilla (EARLY SHOWING) · 3:53pm Oct 29th, 2015
A fan favorite of the Millennium Era and the only one with *GASP* CONTINUITY!
Many of the ideas used in this movie are actually not the first time they appeared in the franchise's production history. The idea of the modern Godzilla fighting the 1954 version steams from a scrapped pitch for the final movie in the Heisei era, and the idea of Mechagodzilla having a rogue AI that goes on a rampage isn't new either. That idea was used in the manga adaptation of the 1993 movie with the Heisei MG. These were fused together in them using the skeleton of the 1954 Godzilla to create the frame and 'bio-computer' for Kiryu, and the spirit of the original beast inhabiting the machine.
And as another bite of trivia, the name they give the machine in the film 'Kiryu' (Or 'Ki-Ryu' in Japanese) actually translates to "Machine/Metal Dragon". Fitting.

I love this movie! This is also my favorite incarnation of mecha g!
ITS AT THREE!? *runs around panicing* oh what, thats two for me... that's perfect actually!
Well, now I know I'm definitely not gonna make this. Though I may make the tail end. I kinda knew I wasn't gonna be able to watch the full thing though, do to schoolwork, so I took the liberty of watching it on my own yesterday (along with GMK).
Easily one of my fave G films. One of the best Godzilla fights ever, and human protagonists that are actually likable!
Having gotten home at 5:48, I must conclude... I never stood a chance, did I.
Here's hoping for a late show on Halloween.
When I watch the movie now I get this Evangelion vibe with how many the parallels to it. Like the depress protagonist pilot a robotic cyborg against giant threats, yet the robotic cyborg could come alive and attack anything around it. Do anyone else get that feeling?
