Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla!
Truly, homecoming parties have never been this destructive until the Kardashians. A unique entry to say the least, being the only time Godzilla Senior teamed up with a mecha (and my favorite one at that!). There also were a lot of different designs Toho went through for Spacegodzilla Xenilla and M.O.G.U.E.R.A.
Some closely resembled the final product like so and so. Others barely resembled what was to come, like this, this, this , this, and this.
Godzilla vs. Destroyah
This is the end folks, the final entry in the Heisei saga! The plot for what was planned to be the LAST GOdzilla movie was a varied subject with both Toho and Tomayuki Tanaka. Initially it was planned to be a live action adaptation of the SNES game 'Super Godzilla', with the main opponent being Bagan in what would be the final attempt to bring the kaiju to film. Next as a bizarre film pitch called 'Godzilla vs. Barubaroi', in which not only would the otherwise unused Heisei Anguirus incarnation be used, but a strange creature that evolved with every living being it came into contact with, called 'Baruboi'. But wanting to tie the finale film back to the original, another idea pitched was for Godzilla Senior to fight a physical 'ghost' of the original 1954 Godzilla. Tanaka however pulled the plug on this plan as he felt this would mean Godzilla would be fighting 2 kaiju similar to him (Mechagodzilla and Spacegodzilla preceding this) and felt that was a bit much. The end result was that Godzilla's final opponent would be a mutation created by the 1954's films super weapon, the oxygen destroyer; much like how Godzilla was made from a nuclear bomb.
Like the other Heisei kaiju, Destroyah went through many design changes from concept to film. Some of which are completely different from the end result aside from being a weird mix of reptilian and arthropod.

The news that Godzilla made his last stand in this film was enormous back in 1995 Japan. Toho even held a mock-funeral with a Shinto funeral shrine for their most famous creation, which they were surprised when there was an exodus to their studio of fans young and old to pay respects. Offerings of toys, flowers, candy, and other gifts were left behind. The news was so big during the follow up and release of the movie in Japan, some of it even jumped the Pacific into American broadcasting stations; an incredibly odd occurrence because the Heisei series past the 1980s entries hadn't even been released in the US yet.
...... I hate I won't be able to be met with the feels.

Oh here's a fun story, When I first saw Godzilla vs Destroyah, I had a friend with me, and when we got to the ending where Junior becomes an adult Godzilla my friend said "Oh, He became Ghost Godzilla" keep in mind he wasn't a fan.

As a kid, Godzilla was all the rage for me, (and still is) and the videostore only had certain movies, but I saw Godzilla vs Destroyah because my grandparents had HBO and it was on...and I freaking cried during the final scene. That's the thing, I never cried over any Disney Movie Sad scenes, or any other supposedly sad kid movies, but the King melting down was too much for me.

To make it sadder, that whole montage at the end felt like insult to injury. That night I went to bed holding my Godzilla toy (I was like 6 or 7 at the time, don't judge me
Jr. coming back to life and taking over helped calm me a little, but without internet at the time, I had no idea when the next Godzilla movie would happen. That's why when the 98 Amercan Version was advertized, I flipped out thinking it would continue the story of Jr...and then I saw it
Luckily, Godzilla 2000 came out soon after making me happy again because then the story was finally continuing
But yeah, Godzilla vs Destroyah, the saddest movie moment for me as a kid

Sorry folks, I was planning on doing SpaceGodzilla today, but I was out with my sister seeing the Goosebumps movie, and I didn't realize we'd be out as late as we were.
In any case, I should mention that the next time I do the stream will be on Sunday, followed by the Millennium series starting on Monday. I have to admit, after watching all these movies on a daily basis, these movies are really starting to blend together for me. I'm not sure I could do another month long stream event unless the movie were all very unique from each other.

Ah my two favorite ones. Can't wait. If I remember correctly, didn't Godzilla's actor in VS Destroyah collapse due to the extreme heat in the suit cause of the lights? Remember that happened.
....Those concepts look freaking cool not to use. Again be interesting to see them integrated into the story somehow. Especially the Heisei Anguirus look (looks like little spike wings heh). Did not even know he was considered to be part of the whole thing, though that does make sense considering most of the others were there. Like maybe if he reaches his full potential/powers hinted in his bio, BAM new look.
Wait, October 24? Does this mean nothing is showing today and tomorrow, or is he going to show the Rebirth of Mothra trilogy?
