    It's Been Over a Year

Apologies everyone but I'm not super into writing for this fandom anymore. There are a variety of reasons, but chief amongst them is that within the past two years reception of my stories, and other's stories as well, has dropped considerably. noble and Free, which is a project I loved working on, only had one comment on its last chapter. (Which was two years ago as were most of my semi-recent

    What's Going On

So, the past couple months have been an absolute shitshow of epic proportions. I had to leave school due to a serious issue in regards to teaching, paperwork, and the utter uselessness of the staff. I had a job up until semi-recently but due to matters I could no have affected, mainly in that my cousin is a bloody psychopath, I moved from TN to IA. Now, I have to get a job (already got an

The New Displaced Group · 6:14am Oct 21st, 2015

Well, today, rather, yesterday brought some new changes to our little group.
We've decided to implement a whole new system for stories in Displaced. That's right, we've listened to the complaints and I have done something about it. Today, we have implemented Story Approval, where, if a Displaced fic gets by two, or more, reviewers, then its allowed in. However, if its not, you make the required changes and resubmit when you are done. You story will, hopefully, eventually get through. There is also more to this system. These approvers will make sure your story is original, avoids plot holes, and doesn't look as bad as it could. Now, before I get complaints that this is stupid, I'd like you to realize something. By accepting any and all fics, we've given ourselves a bad image, one which I hope to mend, to a degree. Now, older members may still feel deterred, and I am completely fine with that, but here's something else. We have THREE people going back over all 500+ fics already in the group. That's right. We're even fixing up our old confirmed stories. I am not going to claim all the credit, in fact, I'd like to give some of it out. Thank you, anyone and everyone who has been restating their opinions on what should and what shouldn't be done.
This is not to deter people from writing, it is to improve such writing. After confirmation, you will be expected to keep the quality you had upon the stories release, or it goes back to the bin and has to be resubmitted. You have, after initial submission, three retries before your story is officially rejected and thrown to the bin. That does not mean you should stop, that just means it is no longer a Displaced fic and you should turn it into a simple HiE fic.
I'd also like to welcome TGM to Displaced Staff and welcome BACK Akemi Homura(Ruby Rose).
Hopefully, all this is the first step in improving Displaced.

Excellent. Quality control is the first step towards positive changes.

I figured as much. Thanks for the input.
Also, I'd like to ask something.
Would you be willing to help?
As a contributor/story approver.

Unfortunately not. I simply don't have the time. Thanks for the offer though

We have THREE people going back over all 500+ fics already in the group.

*Low Whistle*

That's going to take forever. Like, forever, forever.

But it'll be worth it, right?

Are you going to be doing this process before or after people submit the stories to the site? If we let them through, then they're on the site and "tarnishing your reputation" no matter what you guys do about it. And no, you aren't allowed to force people into removing "Displaced" from the title or description. If people want to write in your universe, they're allowed to do that with or without your permission. You can keep them out of your group, but I don't think most people who generally dislike Displaced really care all that much whether the stories are in a given group. My opinion of the genre is negatively affected either way.

Good. This is a step in the right direction. Remember my star analogy? Well, there is a way for a star to gain new energy, and that's by accepting the help of another star. It seems that you've chosen to do that.

They pick whether or not. I am, however, suggesting that they post on Quotev or share it as a G-docs with the contributors FIRST

3486723 I'm just trying to warn you that this isn't going to do what you're hoping for unless you have some means of actually improving these stories before they go live. Speaking from experience, people hate Displaced because of the lack of creativity. They hate seeing the same story over and over again. They don't generally care about your group or in most cases even know it exists. They don't hate Displaced because of the group, they hate Displaced because Displaced is not an interesting universe.

Variable quality control over access to your group, and forcing people to pick over 500+ stories, isn't going to do a damn thing. It's great that you want to make people hate your universe less, but you have to actually address the root cause. Since nobody cares about the quality standards of the group specifically, addressing that isn't going to accomplish anything.

3486743
One of the things being addressed is plots as well. Any, and all, previously approved Displaced stories are being reviewed and we are hoping not only to control quality, but add more creativity to the group.

3486751 I mean I wish you luck and all but be aware that merely controlling access to the group isn't going to be a miraculous fix-all. It's too late in the game; the damage has been done, and at this point you might want to even consider pushing people away from the whole formula of conventions and cosplay as much as possible. I'm pretty much convinced that, at this point, the only people actually reading these stories are people within your own group. Pretty much every single other person on the site is either apathetic or outright negative, because Displaced has this reputation of being the polar opposite of creativity and originality.

Also you should make sure the people you've got picking over these stories are actually qualified. If they're the sort who normally just eats up Displaced stories and loves them, then you probably should consider getting new people from outside.

Those three, are our trusted Lorist, and two authors who seem to have less bias. I've told them, show no mercy. Whether the story has 1,000 words, or 200,000, review it. As for creativity, thank you for suggestions and I have already been planning a thread for this, not a rule, but a suggestion.

Not everyone surfs around the groups on the site. A link to the group would be a nice addition to the blog.

Unbiased?

Unbiased because, while they be authors, I've seen how brutal their reviews can get.
Its not 100% unbiased, but its fair percentage.

*cracks knuckles* Whoo boy. I got some work to do revising my own stories...
