You know, this season's gonna be really confusing on Netflix, with so many episodes being shown out of production order...
Anyway, Rarity pulls a hat trick today with the third episode in a row that focuses on her, even though this episode is actually a Rarity/Applejack episode.

Twilight's so bored she's blowing raspberries at books. That's wacky.

Looks like this episode intersects with "Brotherhooves Social" in the same way "Games Ponies Play" and "Just For Sidekicks" intersected.

There were two things in this episode that just blew my mind. One: Twilight is bored of books. Two: Applejack threw away her hat!
It also really bugged me how lost Applejack was through the episode. It's like they completely ignored that she used to live in Manehattan!
3421396 1. Rarity threw away Applejack's hat. And bought her an identical one. And for the last time, Applejack has several dozen of the same hat. There's nothing special about the hat.
2. Applejack didn't live in Manehattan for very long, and was never comfortable there. And that was over a decade ago.
Well, three Rarity episodes in a row wasn't bad. At least they didn't burn out her character, but I figure that this episode lacked something to make it stand out. It tried, but it didn't try hard enough.

3421398 I didn't think it was really important to specify that it was Rarity, because she did it right in front of Applejack and Applejack put up no resistance.
You say that like they weren't perfectly valid pieces of headcanon that got smashed, and pretty good ones at that. Applejack secretly being fancy added some interesting depth to her relationship with Rarity, and the hat being from her dad was a nice bit of background. Neither of them had anything against them until now either. I only say this because there was a lot of venom there, almost like you were talking about Twilight's peach addiction instead of world building fanon.

3421428 Huh... I didn't notice that at all. I guess it's not surprising though, I watched seasons one through four all in the space of two days when I got into the fandom, and then spent the rest of the time on fanfiction. This is the first season I'm watching carefully.
To be fair, a neighborhood park is much less area than Sweet Apple Acres. It just hadn't received any maintenance in what seems like years. (Sheesh, where are those tax bits going?)
What did the map want them to do, put on a play and tell 3 million ponies they have to be nice to each other?
