So many story ideas, so little energy.

Who would have thought not having a job could be so tiring? I swear I'm lazier than a sloth these days. I at least partially blame the guys who made Dominion 4 (yep, still addicted) and Square-Enix for creating Final Fantasy X, which just re-released on the PS4 like I've been waiting ages for.

Oh, have a looksee at a little of what I worked with this past weekend:

Alright, how many of you actually know what kind of bird that is my parents are raising?

My slump hasn't quite faded yet and I didn't publish anything this week, but that doesn't mean I'm not writing. Due to circumstances both foreseen and not I started running behind on my plans and decided to push back my releases by a week. This gave me enough time to completely rewrite the intro of my original fiction (an oddity as I almost never do that kind of thing) and take a closer look at my plans for Shadow Pony, revising the intro a touch to meet some new requirements. My next and biggest task is to write Becoming Them, which I've been putting off for far too long. Assuming my energy can start building up again, I should have it ready for release by the 30th. Of course, this means I need to finally pick the pre-readers/editors for the story, so hopefully I'll get on that soon too.

I'm still stuck without any cover art, but that's my own fault for not bothering to look. With any luck I can sort that out soon too.

One last thing, and this is related to reviews. Lately I've been getting some requests from authors I've already reviewed once. To accommodate them, I have been applying one requested story to my review schedule per week. At the moment that means I have the next four weeks worth of reviews planned out based on those requests.

If you want to recommend a story for me to read and review, by all means do so, just know that such reviews will come at a first-come-first-serve basis and will always be placed at the back end of my existing schedule, so you could be waiting weeks or even months for your request to come through. Any story already in my RiL may not be bumped forward, although I might make exceptions. This is also the only way I will (knowingly) read and review an incomplete story – although I will only do so if the author writing the story is the one who requested the review, otherwise it's going into my "Incomplete" bookshelf.

Update Schedule

Becoming Them: Saturday, May 30
Order of Shadows Book I – Chapter 1: Saturday, June 6
Shadow Pony: TBA

those look like quail eggs, I'm guessing.

Are you planning:

On getting in on the Writeoff this weekend? It's minifics this time--stories of 400 to 750 words written within a 24 hour period--and is in the "prompt voting" stage right now.

Hah! Someone who knows. I'm glad I didn't make that bet with my Mom about being the only guy on the site who recognizes them.

Yes, I was planning on it. I even submitted a prompt for it.

I would guess feasant. I used to work summers at a feasant farm. The damn things stank to high heaven.

And now you're activity accepting review requests? I hope you know CPR because you're RiL is gonna be drowning soon.

Actually, they're quail. If they smell, I wouldn't know it; I've lived around birds of all sorts for far too long to even notice anymore.

I just figured I'd let people know that review requests were an option. If my inbox explodes, so be it.

This, so hard. :(

At first I thought you spelled "pheasant" wrong, but then I remembered USA vs UK. And yes, I agree. Paul has opened the floodgates.

I thought they were quails too, although I remained silent. :raritywink:

woo! and I only recognized the eggs because Asian supermarkets. I've never seen the chicks before.

Quail! My step dad raises a bunch and sells the eggs.

Google image search says that baby bird is...
Either money, a turtle, a roach, or a husk of corn.

And suddenly, peddling the common wares to irate people for Wal-mart seems like an oasis in the summer.

Still makes me hate people regardless :V

This reminds me, I've got plans and notes for my own Themfic wallowing in my Documents foder, should hop on those sometime soon...

Quail! :yay: It's my state bird! I love their little top-knot!
