    Quickdraw Blog. BANG!

Heya folks! This will be a quick blog, more rapid update outta necessity than witty commentary, so i'll cut straight to the chase. I've got good and bad news. The good, in my opinion, outweight the bad! But you be the judge:

It Cuts Like a Knife; It Might Leave You Bleeding

Story reviews are interesting because, sure, you can use them to know if a certain book will be the right one for you? But I feel they’re more useful when the review is in itself a tool to talk about storytelling in general. You review a book, but the book is a jumping-off point to discuss what it means to have good pacing; stuff like that.

A Full Year of Only Mondays

Good morning. This is, from my point of view, a comedy blog. From the point of view of my family and loved ones, it's a horror story.

I'm so fucking back, baby. Hi, all. Did you miss me? I know I did.

Massive posting in a bunch of days · 12:54pm Feb 1st, 2014

If you're kind enough, I would love for you to answer the little question (regarding the story tagged in this post) at the end, please. Even if you don't read anything else. It will help me with a little problem I have, you see.

Well, my exams were finished like two weeks ago, and now I have ten days off. And as I have absolutely nothing to do, I'm going to write. I have a lot to do, but I'll mostly go and post a long-waited update and a bunch of short stories, including the third sequel to Daring DONE!, which is already written but needs some serious editing on my part before it even gets to the proofreaders/prereaders. So, I guess I've mostly written the first draft, then? I don't know. Heavy work is done, now I just need to make it better. Rewordings, adding more jokes, etcetera. You'll get news about it later, it's not the main topic of this post.

However, as you might notice by the fact that this blog is tagged, I want to talk about Long Story Short, Things Went Down. As you might now, a sequel is in the words -- more especifically, I'm planning it -- but the other day I had a funny idea before going to sleep, and I think it would suit the characters of that story. So, I'm thinking on writing (and posting) a little sequel to the story. Not the sequel, which will be another adventure/comedy in the same vein as the first one; this will be a Slice-of-Life, a little, single chapter that will show how life is for those ponies on a daily basis. Well, maybe it will be more than one chapter, but I doubt it.

However, I'm not really sure if that will be welcomed. Even though it may not look like it, I think that the adventure part was one of the most important snippets of the fanfic -- using a slower pacing and situations that are not as stressing will take away part of the charm. Thus, I don't really know if I should do this.

Then again, it might be fun. So... Yeah. I am going to write a proper sequel, that will expand the story of Long Story Short, Things Went Down. If everything goes as planned, it will work as a standalone story too, but it'll also add more deep to the characters, if only because I'll change the interactions (Carrot and Turner, for example. They barely talk with each other in the first story. Or maybe Lyra and Derpy, or Bon Bon and... Okay, Bon Bon is a special case. I can pair her with anypony and the interaction will more or less be the same, unless it's with Lyra. But hey, it's still incredibly fun to write).

So, yeah. Also, thanks for liking the story and stuff. May I ask you a question? Which character do you think was the best one (best written, funnier, easier to hate... whatever rings your bell) and which one was the worst one (or the one who didn't leave an impression on you, I guess) in Long Story Short, Things Went Down? I personally like Turner and Bon Bon, but apparently people liked Derpy, and that honestly surprised me, y'see.

Anyway, that's it. See ya in a couple days!

I'd love to see a little slice of life fiction with the characters! I'd not only welcome it, I'd take it into my family!
The best character? I guess I'd say Turner. Who is better than the magical butt pony? But seariously I loved Turner in the fiction! And Bon Bon too. Always got the big laughs out of me
The worst....I would say Octavia. She was ok but didn't really made anything that would leave an impression. Maybe you wanted her to be just like "yeah I'm hot" and she had a few good jokes but she would be my least favourite if I'd need to choose :twilightblush:

My favorite character was sexy Octavia. I think Carrot Top made the least impression on me, given the lack of focus on her compared to the others.

Also, I would also love to see a slice of life with these characters.

Best: Vinyl. I'm biased. Oh and Lyre... because f**k u I have a stature.
Worst: BonBon... I'm with Lyre on that one.

They were all equally, deliciously horrible. Although Time Turner was my favorite, probably because of bias.

Fleur was my favorite... Bonbon needs a boot to the head. Of the ponies in the group though... Turner, Tavi and Vinyl are all tied for me.

I loved that story. Just finished it today.

In my opinion a slice of life could work very well. If you posted it I, for sure, would read it. In Things (yes I'm calling it that) the pace slightly limited how much of the characters one could see. With a slower pace I feel you would be able to explore their personalities a bit further.

My favourite character, by the way, happens to be Turner for two reasons.

1. Magic butt.
2. He majored in BS in college. I mean how else could he have come up with a story like that and still have guards believe him.

For the story, I would love to see a sequel. It made me laugh unlike many others, and sometimes I would put down my tablet just to enjoy it.

best written, funnier, easier to hate... whatever rings your bell) and which one was the worst one (or the one who didn't leave an impression on you, I guess

Best Written: I actually like Bon Bon. I like how you made her "different" from the others and that really emphasized how crazy the others are to a "normal" person. Turner was also well done.
Funnier: You're like asking which of the Mane 6 has the best color scheme. All of them are funny in their own way, and I enjoyed revolving throughout your cast. I do like your blunt humor though. Telling someone to fuck a nail is always amusing. I went and told someone to screw a nail afterwards, just for the pun.
Easiest To Hate: I kinda disliked Carrot Top. She seemed to be stupid, rash, and everything that would screw over a guy.
One That Didn't Leave An Impression: Carrot Top, but that could have been just because she wasn't seen much. I kinda thought she was too similar to Lyra, and that caused a lack of uniqueness.

Slightly unrelated, I am both slightly against you making Octavia so... suggestive, but I also think it's pretty funny.

My fav(s) would be Bon Bon and Derpy. Bon because of her smartass, hate everything remarks. Derpy, because of how she really thinks, lol.

Worst would be Time turner. Meh, wasn't much to him during the whole thing, well at least not what I could see.

Decision for most/least favorite character is a little hard. I can definitely say I hated Octavia the most. That "I'm super hot" thing became old pretty fast. Bon Bon is closely following it, her constant sarcasm being at some point predictable and not really "fresh" anymore.

Best character is hard to say. I can definitely say Derpy and Turner are up there, but I hate all characters in a way that makes it kinda hard to rate which one is my single most favorite one. :V

Lyra was definitely a fave for me and I agree, Derpy surprised me in how much I ended up liking her.

I actually think that Bon Bon was my favorite. Here is why, it is because she is so sarcastic, and it pisses off everyone around her. Which I find entertaining in a very horrible(the good kind of horrible though) way because she is just a troll. Even after getting kicked in the face she is still a sarcastic and hypocritical egotist. Turner, Vinyl or Derpy were my favorite after Bon Bon because Turner was written as the guy who always has a smartass remark, Vinyl was also kind of a smartass, and Derpy was.. A lot more complex than she first appeared. i liked Fleur and Lyra more than Tavi or Carrot. Though Carrot didn't really have very much development because she was only really introduced whilst under the effects of a mixture of drugs and toward the end if the story which didn't really leave much room for her character to be fleshed out in my personal opinion, but i think you did a nice job. Great fic and i look forward to the sequel.
