Tis the Season(4 ep04 Spoilers) · 11:41pm Dec 7th, 2013

So, yeah. I've jumped on the bandwagon and added a Santa hat on my avatar. Am I cool yet?

Now, Rob Halford covering one of my favorite hymns? Rob Halford covering one of my favorite hymns.

Now, for the spoilers:

Rainbow Dash is Best Fangirl. Seriously, seeing her and Twi go back and forth over the books was a-goddamn-dorkable.

Way to abuse your new status to get private information on public figures, Princess.

Oh, my god, the Indiana Jones refs. For real, the ring in the fireplace, the map painting(goddamnit, Pinkie, stop being adorable), and Belloq pony. Oh, dear god. I was begging for him to say, "Once again, we see there is nothing you can possess that I cannot take away." I would have shat myself.

The moral was great, and not shoehorned in like last episode.

Pinkie was used to great effect this episode. Dave Polsky shows he can write a great script without having her be insane. Also, her little mini-bounces up to the altar was just d'awwwwhhhnnnnggggerwokagfjndslihdslknfbo;zjanf;jkdbhvl.

Dear God, this show just keeps upping the ante with the animation and sound cues. I am fully certain that it is not New-Episode glasses when I say this is shaping up to be the best season yet.

Everything is more adorable with giant hats.

Uh, that's... that's really all I got. I fucking love you all. Stay safe, stay free, and stay metal! Jake The Army Guy out!

This was playing at the back of my mind the entire episode:ajsmug:

that's... actually a pretty good rendition of that song, though imo the relentlessly driving background guitar takes away from the quality.

as to whether or not santa hat makes you cool, I wouldn't know.
I've been wearing mine since last year. :facehoof:

I agree with you about the best season thing. It seems like they've ironed out all the problems in storytelling and animation to make this the best kid's show around. :ajsmug:

Loved the episode so much XD Glad we got to see more about Daring Do :rainbowkiss:

Pinkie was awesome (like always)! You just gotta love her bounciness :pinkiehappy:

I also laughed quite a lot when Rainbow Dash and Twilight were discussing things about what was happening in the books after Daring Do left and you saw the other ponies looking at them during their conversation. Pinkie just nodded in agreement. I laughed at Fluttershy's 'wtf pinkie' look and kept on paying attention to their reactions that I hardly followed the conversation between Rainbow and Twilight :rainbowlaugh:

Yeah, this is quickly becoming my favorite, too. Also I love how Daring intentionally lives out in the middle of nowhere in order to (presumably) not be discovered, yet still wheres a comically bad disguise everywhere she goes. In fact, I think her real special talent is making comically bad disguises that are believed anyway.

Also, the ring in the fireplace was an Indy thing? I mean... hold on.

Computer, blast shields up!

I mean, I haven't actually seen the Indiana Jones movies, but I just kinda' figured big gold ring in a fireplace was a LotR reference. All it needed would've been the all-powerful mage in the room telling them to "Keep it secret; keep it safe."

Gotta' say... hold on again.

Blast shields still up, right? Good.

Gotta say that I actually liked the previous episode better though. There were too many moments where I was wondering why they weren't doing [X] for me in this one. Why are they indulging Rainbow's crazy and awful idea? Why are they just sitting there watching Daring get the snot kicked out of her? Why does the guy's name literally mean "Dr. Horse" I mean that's just lazy. Why aren't the rest of the mane 6 with Rainbow when she catches up to Daring? (Yes, she's faster, but she says herself later that she's not a solo act when it comes to thrilling heroics.) Why in the fuck is that disguise working at all? Why didn't not-even-going-to-try-and-spell-it not just rip of Daring's head? And/or bite it off? And/or any number of immediately lethal takedowns instead of an elaborate deathtrap?

Overall, it was a really fun watch and the final scene back home is amazing, but I just enjoyed Castle Mane-ia more. What BOTH episodes do really well is fleshing out places that aren't Ponyville, though.

Thanks for reminding me to put on my santa hat avatar from last year, I kept forgetting, lol.

Is there something wrong with me? I just couldn't stop seeing things that didn't make sense. They implied that the 800 years of heat would be from the sun... couldn't Celestia have just said no? Rainbow was acting like she and her friends WEREN'T celebrities who had saved Equestria and/or the world multiple times themselves... I wish there was some consistency with the mane 6's fame across the episodes. And why the hell was the temple's structural integrity tied to the bottom ring? What, was it a load bearing stone? Did Daring Do really make a callback to like, two minutes ago with the you-can-flap-too comment? If the rings could be BROKEN, why didn't Daring break the ring she had the MOMENT she acquired it, instead of hiding it in a book?

And last... why was Rarity, Applejack, Pinkie, and Fluttershy there? This would've been a great episode for some one-on-one bonding with Twilight and Rainbow sharing the spotlight. It feels like they just crammed all of the mane 6 into this episode just to have them there, and I hope that doesn't become a theme.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the episode, it just seemed to me like there were an awful lot of contrivances occurring. :unsuresweetie:

Oh man, dat Rob Halford cover... :twilightoops: His voice is just... perfect. One of my favorite vocalists, by far.

I really want him to be my gay best friend so we can go on biker bar adventures together. :rainbowkiss:

Anyway! New episode was AWESOME! :pinkiehappy: Funny, great animation, and some more world-building. It's all I ever wanted! :moustache:

Okay two things:

1.Yes you're cool for wearing a santa hat.
2.There was a "Willhelm scream" in this episode.
4. No wait... Three.
3. Oh right I only had two points.

That is all.

I think something's wrong with me too, because, as soon as the episode finished, I went to this site expecting a deluge of Daring Do x Caballero/Ahuizotl clop.

I'm quite fond of "Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel" myself. Metal version just makes it so much better!

Also, I share my own thoughts on "Daring Don't" in this here blog.

Oh, dear god. I was begging for him to say, "Once again, we see there is nothing you can possess that I cannot take away." I would have shat myself.

What would have done me in is if Daring Do had said "This belongs in a museum!" :rainbowlaugh:

Man, I just finished watching the episode. As everyone knows RD is best pone, so seeing an episode with her and Daring Doo was fuckin' awesome. I even took this screenshot for safekeeping. Link :rainbowdetermined2:
God, I love this show.

So, yeah. I've jumped on the bandwagon and added a Santa hat on my avatar. Am I cool yet?

Not as cool as a wizard in a santa hat. :moustache:
