I just suppose it's a pet peeve when someone completely ignores what kind of effect transforming something has on it's recipient. There's a reason I consider transformative magic/science/whatever to be rather horrifying, after all . . .

If it's a natural part of you, then there's really nothing wrong with it. If it's being forced onto someone else though, well, not so much. The whole "Mind is a Plaything of the Body" in my headcanon is less the body messing with the mind (though that does factor in), but one of the individual's soul/being forcibly being "changed" in shape to accommodate the new body. Even if it isn't forced, things like that still apply. Especially if the creature they were morphed into was non-sapient. Can you imagine being trapped in a body, unable to communicate, while your very essence was lost, and every second, you were forgetting things?
So yeah. Transformation can be pretty scary.

I always figure, for werewolves, it's a "hurts progressively less the more times you do it" in terms of the body becoming more used to it. At least, that's how I did it in my Werewolf Applejack fic.

Honestly, I don't think anyone would really ever get used to it. You have to suffer through it twice when you transform, once going into the form, and once going out of the form. Though I do suppose the individual in question would develop a healthy amount of pain resistance from going through it all the time.
