I never had any trouble with them before. The points that they usually bring up were pretty fair and accurate. Although once or twice they made some comments that were less than... politically correct.

This is the blog that prompted this one.
At no point does this author say anything against EQD, yet the comments section immediately gets flooded with anti-EQD drama, and then the pre-readers enter the circle and all hell breaks loose.

I've never had any major problems, but I've heard some horror stories ("Your naming system doesn't make sense", for example.)
I wish they'd stop caring so much about grammar, and focus on quality of the story in general, instead.

I've heard the horror stories, but honestly my experience with the pre-readers has been fine. Are they a bit blunt? Yes. Can they be a bit nit-picky? Yes, but at the same time, that's the kind of criticism I need, and I can honestly say I'm a better writer for it
True, they do take grammar seriously, but I've never seen a fic rejected for that reason alone. In fact, most of the time I see someone saying they've been rejected by EQD, I check out their stories. 9 times out of 10 there's plenty wrong with the story besides grammar, and 9 times out of 10 I think that it was right to reject 'em. Sure, you'll have the occasional Harmony Theory that probably should be on the site, but... eh, nobody's perfect.

Project: Sunflower never made it on the site because it spent three chapters building up to the ponies(note- it didn't take three chapters to introduce them. It took three chapters for the main character to go to Equestria, because the premise essentially required it). As far as I know, that's the only reason, and I'm a damn harsh critic.
And you're right. A lot of the stories do come from the shit pile, but I've seen enough good stories that never made it, despite hard work on the author's part, that I'm a little leery.
They have their good too- I'm not going to yell about how they're the worst- and it outweighs the bad(in my mind, atleast), but that doesn't mean we should forget the bad.
Technically, "EQD" is not a word. It's an abbreviation. Your blog title is misleading. Shame on you!

Those guys do a lot of work for little to no reward and get tons of hate for it.

edit: the people work hard, they just try ot be bigger then the people they have for the job, for example they have to give out strikes because they don't have enough mods, because they will not hire any more. so yeah the website is shit because they bite off more then they can chew.
