No New Chapter Today · 1:42pm Oct 27th, 2023
It's been a long, looooong time since I blogged, so. Hi. I'm still here. Still exist. My lack of activity is not due to lack of interest but lack of things to say.
Anywho, I originally uploaded my latest story, 'The Starswirl Memorial 500' with the intention of updating it every Monday and Friday. When I came up with that plan, I had eight chapters completed so I figured I could keep up with that. However, like with many stories, there have been some unexpected developments with Starswirl. I have had an outline for the story since the start, but... well A) I'm not a fan of some of those directions looking at it now, B) Characters develop differently with passing time and C) I realized that this story could and, frankly, needed to cover more bases--i.e. I planned it with one story in mind (Smolder's) but realized that there were several other stories that deserved to be told.
The A and C points are the main reason for this week's delay. Over the next week, I will be working on three different things for this story: A) Making sure I have a solid and consistent plan for characters and events that I know will keep my writing momentum going B) Going through previous chapters to ensure that the characters and events are clear and, again, consistent and, finally, C) The main reason why I'm delaying for a week, to make sure that chapters six through nine are the best they can possibly be. I'm not saying that any of the original five chapters are filler, but that the characters, internal and external thoughts and motives, and just general events of these next few chapters are critical to get right or the rest of the story won't make sense.
Regardless, My goal is to have a new chapter up by November 3rd. I might have to change the release dates of chapters beyond that depending on how much of a 'safety net' of chapters and available writing time I have between now and then, but November 3rd will definitely happen since chapter six is already completely written--I'm just holding off on releasing it for now while I go over it several times with a fine-toothed comb.
