In all honesty, though, I've read many fanfics that actually told better stories (or at least told their stories better) than the majority of S3 episodes. Is tackling humanized/anthro that big of a surprise then?

But to post someone's personal information online, as well as a conversation that I assumed would just be between him and me...that's illegal, methinks.

You were falsely accusing him of slander or libel (not sure which it is when it's an online discussion), and he was providing evidence in his defense; hard to slight him for it. The emails you sent him belong to him as well as yourself - that's how it works with letters, anyway - and arguably all he did was take a picture of the 'letter' you sent him and posted it online, which is also perfectly legal. Of course, it all gets gray and murky because this is the internet and the original 'rules' were written for the real world, so... ehn.

I find it hard to NOT think of Equestria Girls as fanfiction.
As good as EQD is, I never entirely got their stance against humanized fics.
Yes, a lot of them aren't good and a lot of them aren't really fanfiction. But the ones that get it right are fantastic and can achieve things that are harder to pull off with ponies. I think humanized definitely has its place, but it's a lot harder to pull off successfully.
As for anthro, well...

not likely, they will just now acept storys that fall into the EQG canon, although the prereaders will likely be very picky whit those, if they even dare to pre-read them...
i personaly have read a few storys whit anthro, not many were that good, that stuff is way too hard to pull of nicely, since you need to stay true to canon and think of how the fandom will react when reading it at the same time... being antrofied automaticaly kills some of the charm of the canon because it fucks up a lot of the pony's logistics.
on the humanizaed hand though... people can realy work that shit up, seriously! i have seen some wonderful humanized workbuilding based on equestria`s logistics... why eqd doesnt post it? dunno, but they dont tend to post humanized pics neither, or the standar is realy high for those. maybe they just want to keep it as much "pony" as they can.
... i kinda turnerd this reply on what i consider the most sane and rational stance about antro, human and eqd.
