    *Cruises through*

I was going through an old hard drive and found this sound file I never uploaded. If anybody likes listening to nerds from ten years ago talk about fanfiction with little ponies in it here's one I recorded with Hoopy Mcgee and Mrpockets at our heights of fanfiction. (Warning there is a little vulgarity. I was just out of the army when I recorded this I think. lol)

    Hello everyone, just an update.

Well, suffice it to say, my renewed effort to start updating to schedule once again didn't pan out. It was maybe a bit naive of me to try and hold myself to that, especially considering how bad my track record had been the last couple of years. Still, I felt I had to try.

    Moving Forward, cause I'm back!

I probably don't deserve to use a song this awesome, but...

Heeeello everypony. I hope you've been enjoying the updates so far. Or, at least, you know, tolerating them.

Whoooa. Two blogs in one year? Who am I and what did I do with the real Merlos!

It's true, I am in fact... a changeling! The real Merlos is currently locked in the basement of this stinky wizard tower, and I am readying Queen Chrysalis' eeeevil plan to take over all the fimfiction writers and then the whole world! Bwahahaha!

    Except not.

My Little Marriage guessing contest for next week's Chapter! (minor spoiler, maybe.) · 9:50pm May 9th, 2013

Hello my little ponies! I've called you all here because...I want to play a game. You see, one thing I've noticed prevelantly in my comments are two things, well, okay three things, there are quite a lot of posts about hating Bobby after all. :twilightblush:. The other two things though are my errors I make, but most of all, speculation.

You ponies love guessing about what happens next! Obviously you love asking about when they'll all turn into ponies, well I won't reveal spoilers about that at all. None. But! I would like to hold a little guessing match concerning the idea itself, of more ponies in this story! We all want it, heck, I want it! But I do want to maintain the plot I'd thought up ages ago. So, to that end let the games begin!

The question, and remember I mentioned this is slightly spoilery, but, Luna will be appearing shortly.

Why do you guys think this is? Why will Luna be coming back, and why will she be sticking around if she does? Or why will she not be?

I mean I know why, I'm not trying to get ideas here, but if anyone guesses it, I'll work out a prize for you, wether it's a short story written by me, for you, or something else of that nature. ^^

Have fun mares and gentlecolts!

She's sticking around because she realizes that something big is going to happen here soon.

Also, but in the last chapter, those "poorly Photoshopped images" Mary found on the internet wouldn't happen to be screenshots from MLP:FiM, would they?

1066078

Nope, she was actually refering to this i16.photobucket.com/albums/b27/hatchbackmustang/halfhorserooster.jpg

if you search for what she searched for in that chapter, it shows up. :pinkiehappy:

shes coming back because she senses trouble in marry. she also senses new ponies she has never felt the dream of before. she has become very curious as to what is happening.

Okay then.

To further elaborate on why I think Luna is coming to Earth, she is coming because she spoke to Celestia after encountering an "unknown mare" in the dreamscape, and the two quickly deduce (somehow) that somewhere else in the universe, beings are getting turned into ponies.

Like usual, it's all Twilight's fault.

Does Luna need a reason to do things? Actually, I have a feeling that Herbert and Luna would make good team for jokes.

Personally, I think Luna's just going to pop into another of Mary(or someone else?)'s dream.
Of course, this time she'll finally get to hear about what's going on on Earth, since last time she was cut off before Mary could say more than "Luna who? Equestria what?"

As additional guessing, I'm thinking this whole mess is Twilight's fault. She probably let another spell get away from her. Again.:twilightblush:

Hm...so many people use Twilight's spells as a scapegoat that I'd like to think that you're going to buck that trend. So, then, why do I think Luna's actually coming back? Well, I think she recognizes that something's amiss, whether she deduced as much herself or sought counsel with her sister. Or, as someone else mentioned, she may have picked up on new dreams coming from the cutie mark-infected family members and is coming to make herself known. At this point, since your dream self is typically your actual self physically speaking, she'd find out that there's something quite wrong, as there would be three cutie mark-bearing individuals who are most definitely not ponies. Thus, with Celestia's approval, she would probably either continue to visit them in dreams or (though this seems less likely as it is highly risky and deprives Equestria of her presence) try to stay with them to sort things out. I really think it'd be the former, though. Meanwhile, she'd enlist the assistance of Miss Egghead to research the phenomenon and give her insight (which is why we have Lyra accusing Twilight of something at the very beginning of the story).

Alright, I'm calling what happens for the entire rest of the book. do i think this is what will actually happen. no, but it would be cool.
Next chapter some dude shows up at the house, a military investigator type. He wants to talk with Stan, find out how the literal hell a guy can just double all of his previous best efforts. Of course Stan can't be forthcoming about all that has happened recently, and Mary has to be hidden the whole time, so its a tense situation. its also another horrible complication to an already horrible situation.
as a result of this Mary has another horrid dream about the town murdering her or whatever, and Luna saves her. Luna's all like "you again? " and Mary just demands answers, like, what the hell is going on. Luna can't answer them, cause she has no clue herself.
maybe Agnes and Herbert start getting this too, I don't know. Bobby continues being a mediocre person, but signs up for the battle of the bands cuz he's a veritable rock god now, and kicks ass at guitar.
we get back-story stuff about Marys time on tour, which is just filler honestly. the story kinda shifts to this military investigator guy. he discovers the little whats-her-faces mad dance moves on the internet, and starts asking the townspeople what the hell is going on. he hears a lot of weird stuff, about church and crazy hair, about a missing person. he hears about drugs. he starts thinking Stan is trying to cook up performance enhancers. he calls some DEA guys to bust the house.
from here it's just total S***storm. they find Mary, they find out about the marks, and they call it a weird disease. the CDC (or Canadian equivalent, because i think this might take place in Canada) quarantines the house, or town. calling this a "disease that will end civilization as we know it" which isn't totally wrong. They set up a lab that's all decked out with all the best quarantine features and a thermobaric self-destruct, because coolness. They also garrison a lot of army guys with the NBC strykers (or LAV III's) and full NBC gear in the town to keep the quarantine, heck, throw in some Apaches, why not.
investigator guy is sympathetic to Marys condition, and tries to help (even though this is beyond anyone's understanding). Stan becomes a pony, and I'm basing this off of how he is losing his ability to balance correctly. whats important is that whoever is in charge of the CDC decides to wipe the ponies and whatever they've been in contact with. stuff happens, and my comment is far too long.
at the end everypony gets fixed back to people, or everywhere explodes. did I get a single thing that would happen correct?

For once, I'm not reading the comments until after I post. My idea shall be my own.

Whatever is happening to Mary's family, as it progresses, it stirs up a turmoil of emotions, sending up red sparks for Luna that she can't ignore. This prompts her to take either a second look at the mysterious pony she met before, or think hard and long after she encounters another of the family members. (If that counted as two guesses, and I'm only allowed one, I'm going with the first.) Luna is informed about what's going on, and has no clue what is causing it, but she promises to consult with certain other ponies and get back to Mary and/or the other family member mentioned earlier. This becomes an almost nightly visit, bringing in clues in small tidbits, and possibly causing worry with a period when she doesn't show up, likely because she was in the process of a breakthrough.

That was slightly more in-depth than I had intended. :twilightsheepish:

Also, the second sentence of the second paragraph in your blog post pretty much admits that they will, indeed, be turning into ponies sooner or later. Was that bad wording, or a Freudian slip? Will you say if it was? Will you make a joke and change the subject? So many questions... :pinkiecrazy:

she's sticking around cuz she's luna and luna don't take "go away" from NO ONE!:derpytongue2:

I just don't want you all feeling bad if that isn't the case, so my intent was to leave both open without revealing it. Or to trick you... :duck:

Mary will dream another nightmare involving humans. Luna will come upon this and be like, "Okay, what are these thing again?" Or, some derivation of that involving humans. She did see them last time and never got the answer from Mary when she asked what they are. So it would be reasonable to think that you didn't write that for nothing, and Luna will find something out/remember something about humans in Equestria and seek Mary out again in the dream world.

Alright, time for outlandish attempts to divine your thought process. To call Luna, a nightmare would be needed. Considering the source, I would say that the nightmare in question is had by one of the family. Mary has had hers already, so I would say that another member is likely the target this time. I suspect Anna, due to youth. In summary, Luna comes because Agnes and the preacher have conspired to form a summoning circle, and she stays because she likes Bobby's collection of video games.

1067284

 First I was like.

...

:rainbowhuh: Then I was like.

1067289 Pretty good at this, aren't I? :derpytongue2:

Well, because bad dreams, duh.

Whether because new ones by one or more of Mary's family, new ones from Mary (unlikely, I think, Luna seems the type to let you be if you ask for it) or because of Mary's original bad dream, i can't guess.

OKAY EDIT.

She comes back because Stan has a nightmare in which even his newfound strength isn't enough to protect Mary from the nebulous dangers and threats he fears will come after her. Luna comes to clear this up, and recognizes that he is one of those creatures from the dream of that strange bewildered mare from a few nights ago, and that he is trying to protect that same mare, and so she does a little Q&A session with him which results in her deciding this thing needs her attention. she tells him she'll be back in a night or two to talk more, and spends the day consulting with Twilight, pinpointing Earth's location relative to Equestria, (maybe twilight gets to invent a spell that interacts with Luna's magic, using it as a conduit to carry a 'tracer' to whomever Luna is conversing with in the dreamscape?) etc.

Ok, now that I have read the chapter, I have another idea with Luna.

Mary will find a depiction of Luna online and be like, "OH S***!" Then she'll seek Luna out in her dreams, thus bringing Luna to her, which is the opposite of what everyone has been guessing (that I've read), which means it's exactly what you would do! :pinkiegasp: :derpytongue2:

Hmm... I'm guessing eventually Luna will be the way by which our lovable Mary and family move to Equestria to live in sunshine and rainbows for the rest of their happy days. Except for Bobby, because nobody likes Bobby. :pinkiecrazy:

Lux

I think that Luna will detect a disturbance on Earth (like a disturbance in the force) and notice that there are ponies there that shouldn't exist. So she comes to them to rescue them or at least advise them in their dreams.

Maybe the ponies that recently got turned into humans will stir something up? :raritywink: (95% probability this at least was your idea at some point. :trixieshiftleft:)

Multiple guesses FTW! :trollestia: You never said we only get one guess!

I think Mary will be captured at some point. She already reacted pretty badly to the dog catcher. Can't imagine what a "cell/pen" would do to her.

Luna already seems to pick up on Mary's emotions, she will pick up on this too. With Mary's state she will likely vent about how her life went so wrong.

1066955 I might not have been completely clear. You said "when they'll all turn into ponies", implying that the question isn't whether it will happen, but how long it will take. I assume from your reply that you meant "if they'll all turn into ponies"? :ajsmug:

1068552

Oh I see, in my head I was saying that from YOUR guys' perspective, as in, you all keep asking me "When will they turn!?" and I'm like, They might not, but maybe they will! Cool your pantaloons! Like that. :pinkiecrazy:

Hm, given that Luna thinks Mary is a regular citizen of Equestria, and her dream was full of unknown creatures, I'm going to wager that Luna (and maybe Celestia) think Mary lives in some undiscovered or hitherto blocked off section of Equestria, like some kinda Brigadoon thing or another Crystal Empire.

Maybe Twilight was searching around for places like that, resulting in the connection, and it might have to do with some kind of influence Mary picked up while on deployment in another foreign land.

Luna thinks that the ponies in this place Mary lives might be in danger, and it's clearly so far away they don't even know about the princesses to ask for help, so Luna tries to get there physically, somehow, maybe after some more dream scouting.

1068812

:raritystarry:
I like this guess, hah. I recommend you reread the part where Luna introduces herself to Mary though! It might revamp this.

1068845
Well OK but I don't see what - OHhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
So is it a pony somehow being born in the wrong world, or that Stan and Mary's kid is somehow going to be a pony, or did the two of them somehow get influenced by Equestria when they got together...? Either way, I'm guessing Luna is coming back to check up on how that's... progressing. Presumably the kid is, or will grow up to be, the anomaly Twilight mentions earlier.

1068908

I'll let you mull stuff over. :rainbowkiss:

(The anomaly actually was just low-fat butter though.)

1068631 This is probably 1:30 in the morning talking, but I was very sad that I couldn't find a picture of a loon (you know, the bird?) wearing pantaloons. :fluttercry:

:twilightoops:...I can't believe I just said that. I think I'll go sleep now. :twilightsheepish:

Hey Merlos,
Just thought I drop by to take your guessing game. Everyone keeps on guessing what person is going to turn into what species of pony. That's not why I'm here, I guess there's a backstory as to why Mary is turning into a pony.

Also, she'll discover the TV series and the fandom somehow. At least, that's my second guess. My third and final guess is that Luna will reveal herself to the family when they all become ponies, (except for Stan's parents, don't ask me why) and she'll stay there for a while to help them a little bit, then head on home.

Good luck Mad wizard, and if you need a Interdimensional Taxi, You know who to call.
fc00.deviantart.net/fs17/i/2007/217/d/f/Checker_Cab_by_426maxwedgie.jpg

-Your Inter-Dimensional Friend,
TimeTravelinc. :twilightsheepish:

I have one clarification for my guess. Luna may play a significant role in the story, but her presence will be limited to dream visits. She will never physically go to Earth. (I'm not so sure about other ponies, though... :twilightsheepish:)

1070222

Well, you aren't wrong, but that isn't exactly what I was asking, either.

-spoiler?

I need to get started on that next chapter already, huh?

I assume Luna will get to view a childish nightmare of Anna's, Anna will go "You're just like mommy!" Luna will be puzzled by this, as no foal would look at an alicorn and say something like that, as for clarification, Anna will let slip that her mom turned into a pony, Luna will ask: "What's your mother's name?" and get Mary in response.

Luna starts digging around in their dreams trying to help, and at least explain what mary is/what cutie marks are.

1070249 If is wasn't clear, I meant the same thing as PrinceDolph just said for all my guesses. Luna only coming in the dream world. Although, I purposefully left it a little vague so that my guesses could apply to both scenarios! Muhahaha! :rainbowwild:

I think that Mary is going to get in some sort of trouble, captured by the government or some such. Luna showed up the first time because she sensed that Mary was in distress. Mary assured her in the dream that she was okay, but Luna never learned that she wasn't actually a pony. I think that this new trouble is going to put Mary in so much distress that Luna shows up again despite Mary's previous assurances that she was fine. During this second confrontation Mary will somehow give away that she wasn't a pony until recently, and Luna will find this intriguing and somewhat distressing to herself as well. Because of this she will stick around to try to help Mary, her family, and anyone else that might be changing.

1092267

Well, that's rather close, enough so (and obvious enough I had thought) that I would've given you the win on this...a couple weeks ago. Hah

That's a good take though buddy, stay tuned! Next chapter should be out before Saturday.

1092274
Aww. I didn't even see the post date. I only just got alerted to an update to MLM, but it showed two chapters. That probably should have tipped me off that something was up. Sorry about that. :twilightblush:

1092274 Didn't Steben guess just as much already? :rainbowhuh: I thought that guess was too cliche. :ajbemused: Meh, I'm sure it'll come out good anyway.

1092658

Well it's STILL not all right, as I said, but yeah.

I will also only/did only comment on parts regarding Luna mind you, nothing to do with Mary to clarify that. ^^

How'd you even find this post Elliot, this is the old blog. o.O
