Back from the dead! Update talk! · 10:56pm Sep 15th, 2023
Just yesterday, I mentioned a story that I was planning to bring back from the dead. Thanks to a recent burst of productivity and a fast editor, I've been able to do just that. I always go into a story with the intent to finish it, and I'm pleased to bring back another canceled fic. It's a fully-outlined story that I haven't touched since 2017... until yesterday. While the outline for the story already exists (along with the old version of the prelude) in Missing Pages, there will be a couple of tweaks to the content in the outline in order to keep things canon with the rest of the Iceverse.
Getting to revise my two currently published Clover the Clever stories was done partly with the intent to restart this story in mind, so they're all going to be consistent with one another. While I'm also working on revising Through the Snow, I haven't had a chance to write pre-Equestrian and early Equestrian history for a while now. My latest story, The First Monster is a fireside story that could take place at any point in time. My story before that, Alethophobia, covers a lot of time in a very experimental way. All my other recent stories have been either during middle-ish Equestrian history (without getting to use the setting in any spectacular way) or present-day Equestria. Enemy of Mine is a slow-updating future fic and Stay Golden (or Ichor, if you prefer) still takes place within 200 years of the show. This is the first proper dive back into the good lore I've done in some time.
And for some reason, it got two downvotes when it updated last night.
Which is... uh... not very cash money, to say the least.
If you liked The Symphony of Dawn and its sequel, Through the Snow, Spare Him His Life, Tomb of Magic, Tear the Sky Asunder, and my other usual historical romp, give this story a read. There is already over 10k in backlog for updates and the story is fully outlined, credit to me for posting the outlines of canceled stories or similar content for when I want to revive them. If you like the idea of a tragic lesbian story with a dose of horror and Dark Ages shenanigans, this is the story for you. Plus, it's a stand-alone sequel. Also, if you've been looking for an excuse to re-read some of my stories: not only is The Symphony of Dawn revised and longer, and The Encore of Clover the Clever now over 10k, but here's a story that is going to be over 10k too. (And they'll all be printed eventually!)
If you're still not convinced.
You will like this story if you liked literally any of these (for different reasons, obviously):
- Enemy of Mine (anti-villain protagonist, lots of lore, loss of sanity, supernatural antagonist, political drama, interpersonal drama, dystopian themes)
- Tomb of Magic (lots of lore, historical content, Starswirl, glimpse into the past life of characters, supernatural antagonist)
- The Symphony of Dawn (it's literally a sequel)
- The Encore of Clover the Clever (it's a related story, it gets kind of fucked up)
- Through the Snow (anti-villains included, lots of lore, insane characters, supernatural elements, political drama, interpersonal drama, adventure elements, historical content, Starswirl, glimpse into the past life of characters, dystopian themes)
- Follow Her Lead (anti-villain protagonist, lots of lore, interpersonal drama, adventure elements, Starswirl, historical content, forgone conclusion)
- Bodysnatchers (Starswirl, supernatural elements, insane characters, anti-villain protagonist, Starswirl, historical content)
- Tear the Sky Asunder (it's a related story, historical content, adventure elements, Starswirl, lots of lore, political drama, interpersonal drama, it gets kinda fucked up, dystopian themes, glimpse into the past live of characters)
- The Company We Keep (historical content, insane characters, glimpse into the past lives of characters, lots of lore, supernatural antagonist, interpersonal drama, adventure elements, it gets kinda fucked up)
- Defining Features (historical content, glimpse into the past lives of characters, lots of lore, interpersonal drama, political drama, forgone conclusion)
- Forever Mare (historical content, political drama, interpersonal drama, glimpse into the past lives of characters, very mentally unwell characters, it gets kind of fucked up, lots of lore)
- Autophobia (historical content, political drama, interpersonal drama, glimpse into the past lives of characters, insane characters, Starswirl, it gets kind of fucked up, adventure elements, forgone conclusion, lots of lore)
And in case you're wondering what my track record is for bringing stories back from the dead in some fashion and expanding on previous versions (of minifics only):

If you want to count already published stories I've done expanded versions of, the list gets even bigger.
I think it's safe to say I have a good track record of doing this. Anyway, say hi in the comments and stuff.
these are good stories :)

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I am completely the opposite: when a story of mine is done, it is done, and I dislike even editing spelling errors in it let alone adding chapters and rewrites.

I must edit all the typos and encourage folks to point them out.
