    Iron Cavalry

Ever since the advent of the Strider-class equine battlesuit the commanders in the 38th Company have been thinking up new tactical approaches to using their new assets. The obvious approach is to use them like the Sentinels they were modeled after: for scouting and light fire support. But the Chaos pirates already possessed Sentinels and had not gotten a new field unit in quite some time, so they

    Praying to the Dark

"You wanted to know more about us, grayskin?
Do you want to know why humans turn to Chaos?
Sometimes we convert at gunpoint. Sometimes we trade our souls for petty comforts or advantages. Sometimes we need to think that there's some kind of greater intelligence and will standing behind this cruel, merciless universe, and wish to align ourselves with it."
    Gaela smiled.

    Hello all you heresy-lovers!
I've again collected enough artwork to fill one of these blog posts, so let's get to it.

Today's feature is the Age of Iron Mascot himself, Dark Acolyte Gear Works!

Starting off with a picture of pre-augmentation Gears, after one of his many unfortunate incidents, drawn by Junne.

Meet Kometka · 11:48pm Mar 18th, 2023

I'm trying to spread out a little creative energy on the Age of Iron front, so when an artist I patronize frequently opened up comic commissions, I was intrigued and decided to see how it would work out.

A little intro comic for a new mercenary horse, Kometka :pinkiecrazy:
by BuvanyBu

Plus a bonus pic from AlruMoon :trollestia:

like the style, uncomplicated and funny

The drawing style is great... and I like the idea of a pony with a meltagun. I am sure nothing can possibli go wrong!

That last picture is cute! :raritywink:

Nothing goes wrong when you have a Melta Gun. Things just go away:trollestia:

Damn that's a sweet comic intro!

Someone call the Imperial Fists, Black Templars, and Commissar Cain! It's time to purge some heretics

Yeah, I can understand where he is comming from, there are just some customers you would love nothing more than to beat a bit of respect into their worthless faces.

Very nice!

I love it
It just so strangely fit
40k is just so over the top that to add ponies does not reallychange much :-D

This is good, but what is the word between tolerance and aliens in the last word bubble. Having a hard time making it out.

Melta guns are indeed wonderful problem-solving instruments.

"Spłoniesz", which Google Translate says is Polish for "you will burn".

In retrospect however, they're not quite as bad as Orks :twilightsheepish:

You seem to know so much about Warhammer. I'm curious do you know anything about Warframe, if so what's your thoughts about it

I LOVE This!:raritystarry:

I only wish I could Fav this too.

I've played a lot of Warhammer and read several of the books. I can't say I know anything about Warframe except that it's the title of a game.

Oh well I asked this because I feel like you would really enjoy the lore of Warframe, the game itself not so sure

This was fun little comic.

This is just feedback. Don't be insulted or cry, ok?

  • Pony art style is great!
  • Backgrounds are rather bland and look more like a modern shopping street than a 40k chaos fortress or anything pony.
  • Page 1 shows the contrast between ponies and Iron warriors. Good! If it had also shown the contrast between the Iron Fortress and Equestria (e.g. view from afar on top of a verdant hill bordering the wasteland) it would be perfect
  • Page 2 is two panels of ponies from behind and only the first panel is showing what the text is describing. Also half of the page is covered by text boxes.
  • Page 3 is good, although panel one could show the pony more militaristic instead of looking like it escaped a leash. I'm not even sure what it is doing, but after staring long and hard, I think the pegasus is kicking an Orc Killa Kan?
  • I guess Page 4 panel one is supposed to show the fiery nature of that pony, hence the flame in his eye? Would be better with just facial expressions, but hey, it's ponyland. For all I know his eyes really catch on fire. Rest of the page is good.
  • Page 5 does exactly what it's supposed to do: Training montage!
  • Page 6, last panel: "sptoniesz" is polish for "you will burn". I had to google that and so did probably everyone else. Makes perfect sense if the OC is from mlp-poland (Poneland?), but until established earlier, it just leaves you puzzled.
  • Text bubbles and boxes in general take up way too much space for a normal comic book, but I guess they are the right size for a phone comic.

On the whole: Love the idea!
And I understand that you probably can't hire Alex Ross to do it. 😛

All perfectly reasonable critiques. Personally I'm regretting not detailing Ferrous Dominus a little more, but I was only willing to give Buvany so many requests for changes. It's a lot of work and the price is... not cheap, exactly, but also a less than what she charges for the same amount of art in non-comic format.

And yeah, that pony is kicking a Killa Kan.
