Ever since the advent of the Strider-class equine battlesuit the commanders in the 38th Company have been thinking up new tactical approaches to using their new assets. The obvious approach is to use them like the Sentinels they were modeled after: for scouting and light fire support. But the Chaos pirates already possessed Sentinels and had not gotten a new field unit in quite some time, so they wanted to get more creative.
The "Iron Cavalry" concept was simple if not short-lived: mount a soldier on the Strider's back. Unfortunately the tests quickly determined that ths idea was not viable. Human riders found the mount too large and hard to control while their own additional firepower was paltry. Using Astartes solved these problems, but created a more difficult one: The Strider lost substantial mobility when mounted by something nearly half its weight, and the shifted center of gravity led to an increase in falls as well. Never mind the opinion of the pony pilots, who found the entire experiment degrading and had great difficulty following the rider's command cues while also managing the gunnery and acquisition interface.
Despite the failure of the project, a few Iron Warriors requested a Strider trainer be set aside and some pilots be on call for further testing. Evidently they liked the experience.

I would use unironically this as bikes for my IW..
Absolutely not going "wheeeeeeee!!!" With the vox disconnected
I could imagine an entire ogryn regiment of the Death Korps of Krieg trying to ride these into battle, getting agrravated or even outright mad whenever they wind up falling off and just chucking the robot horses at the enemy lines.

yet one of them are still missing withouth a hand.... maybe he will come back as a Skywalker
I wonder hey they do secret rodeos between Iron Warriors with various challenges that involves lots of life ammunitions.
I you can't ride it, put it in front of a cart. Iron chariot unit is born.
Cool

Like the cavalry riders, it sounds like fun but a combat cart probably isn't tactically viable XD

A combat cart is entirely tactically viable, in the kind of trench warfare situations the Iron Warriors favor. It wouldn't be an enormous force multiplier, but what it does provide rapid reinforcement of a weakening line section by allowing rapid deployment from a secondary line. Basically, it's an APC with an even better traction system than treads. Give it a pair of side mounted bolters for close range suppression and you have a fine command or transport APC

You can ask the Cossacks

who knows XD maybe the Pony luck makes it actually work XD
If one pony pilot has trouble driving his Strider and firing while also taking commands from the passenger, the solution is simple. Bigger Striders with two ponies and a mounted storm bolter for the passenger! One moves, one shoots,
the Necrons redeploy, and the Astartes can spray bolts wildly while urging the Strider forward so he can hit the enemies with his sword.5751360
We are moving closer to a true pony AT-AT
