    Iron Cavalry

Ever since the advent of the Strider-class equine battlesuit the commanders in the 38th Company have been thinking up new tactical approaches to using their new assets. The obvious approach is to use them like the Sentinels they were modeled after: for scouting and light fire support. But the Chaos pirates already possessed Sentinels and had not gotten a new field unit in quite some time, so they

    Praying to the Dark

"You wanted to know more about us, grayskin?
Do you want to know why humans turn to Chaos?
Sometimes we convert at gunpoint. Sometimes we trade our souls for petty comforts or advantages. Sometimes we need to think that there's some kind of greater intelligence and will standing behind this cruel, merciless universe, and wish to align ourselves with it."
    Gaela smiled.

    Hello all you heresy-lovers!
I've again collected enough artwork to fill one of these blog posts, so let's get to it.

Today's feature is the Age of Iron Mascot himself, Dark Acolyte Gear Works!

Starting off with a picture of pre-augmentation Gears, after one of his many unfortunate incidents, drawn by Junne.

"Sometimes, though, we just need help. And in our fury and desperation, we scream into the darkness, demanding power.
And sometimes... the darkness answers."

I just took a screenshot of that exact prayer. The Dark Gods are REAL!

Signs of things to come for gears maybe?

Also, the Imperium has the dubious Honor of making life so shit for most people that chaos is actually sometimes the rational choice, at least if you are willing to throw everyone else under the bus. And that is before we get to all the people on the empires purge list who wouldn't have joined Chaos under any other circumstances, like Delgan. Honestly, for all its anti-chaos rhetoric the Imperium can be counted as a nearly purely positive development for the chaos gods, if not the traitor legions. Giving them a 10.000 year buffet of all the emotions they want.

...And Darkness answered

Imagine being in that position, screaming into the darkness for power, and the darkness that answers is Discord.

"I sold my soul for this!?"

Maaaaaaaybe
I mean he's already in the cult

So would he be Chaos Undivided, Tzeentch, Nurgle, or some minor power? I can't picture him as Khorne or Slaanesh for obvious reasons.

I would consider the Dark Mechanicus in general a splinter of Chaos Undivided. They tend not to tolerate the more "crass" aspects of Chaos worship, which make submission to a specific god difficult and dangerous.

I mean, there's always the new chaos deity on the block Vashtorr, Chaos god of Machines.

Might be something to look into, possibly?

I do love your take on the lore of 40k. One of my favorite sections of your stories is the whole article on how Chaos and the Warp are a mirror of order and reality. I would read with great enjoyment pages and pages of purely things like that.

Chaos isn't a good answer to any problem, but sometimes you don't have the choice of a good answer. Even then most of the gods are clearly bad options. Tzeentch will absolutely screw you over, Khorne is good at pretty much just one thing and makes you not good for anything else either, and Slaanesh pushes to extremes that quickly leave all realms of sanity. Which just leaves Nurgle, who at least cares about you. But if what you want is improvement in your situation he really isn't good at that. Much better for stoic acceptance.
