The description alone looks amazing. I look forward to tearing into it when I get to it.
I have a few friends in my old unit with PTSD. Similar regrets and what not. I don't fully know just what personal hell they went through but I've got to say I've got a very keen idea where eastwind and even thunderlane are coming from. I often see a lot of how those friends act in firefly and it's hit me harder than I had thought it would.
You've got a lot of the fight we go through with our buddies coming back pinned and I honestly can't say every emotion this story has triggered has been good, but they certainly haven't been weak. Like no shit had someone ask if I was OK because I looked like I was giving my phone a pained "thousand yard stare" and now I've got a chaplain fussing over me.
That said, this story has been a captivating ride from start to finish and I feel it has even given me a better idea on what to watch out for when I deploy this coming year.

You and your unit have my utmost respect and sympathies for what you've gone through. It takes a certain kind of person to willingly put themself in harm's way and sadly I cannot count myself among them. I can however, tell their tale and perhaps depict a measure of what being thrown into a brutal, heartless conflict is like.
I mentioned in a writer's blog post a while back that the "talky" chapters would be very emotionally involved and that not all of the emotions would be good. As sympathetic as I am to any triggered reactions, I stand by the writing as it means it is doing its job of placing the audience in the moment.
Thank you for your service and good luck out there.

Stay the course you've got, you're doing great.
I think this may very well have been the best chapter yet.
Bad ass. It didn't even register that her actions weren't just an artifact of being the hero in the story, but real problems that entailed big risks. Shit, it's like you gave an intervention to the guy from the hurt locker.
