Rusty Bones is a self-styled "Adventurer Extraordinaire". She had come across an old map showing a hitherto undiscovered pony civilization far in the Frozen North and now she is setting out on an expedition to explore these ancient ruins. The way will be difficult and perilous, but glory awaits!

There we go. Originally I had meant to publish this for Halloween, but the story was fun and it kept growing and it was only complete around Christmas, so I decided to make it a sort of "Christmas present". (Yes, it's late for that, too, I know. Took me a few days to edit and reformat into a suitable shape for publishing it here.)
Oh, also: I couldn't come up with a good cover image - I was thinking some kind of dark, underground architecture. I found a few candidates, but I couldn't trace down their copyright information, so I opted not to use them. A few of them were straight up screenshots from the LotR movies, and thus likely extremely copyrighted. If anyone can suggest a fitting image (with a known source), I'd be very grateful.

This story deserves to be much more visible. I enjoyed it from start to finish, a good old fashioned taut psychological thriller! What is there in the dark that isn't in the light? Great work, I've added it to my favorites!

Thanks! The idea came from re-watching LotR and thinking, during the Moria scenes: "What if there never was a reveal of what the drums in the deep actually were?"
Also, I really liked the atmosphere of those sections in both the book and the movie.

Eventually yes, definitely, but a lot of my early work never heavy editing and I suffer from chronic lack of free time. I'm still in the middle of editing "Rosa" so it's suitable for Fimfiction, then probably off duty sequel. My new stories will be easier to adapt, but I really can't give any time promises
