In every life there comes a day when one chapter ends and another begins. The daisies that grow in the deserts of Equestria know this, their rugged beauty lasting only as a flash in the landscape. For one young mare, today is that final page of the chapter she calls home. And today is going to be a good day.

I loved this story. It captured the slice of life tag perfectly.

Great job!

Thanks! Glad you liked it.

This story has a real intimate feeling to it that makes me almost feel guilty just for reading it. Something about it makes it feel real, like I've known about Daisy for a long time. I don't know much about the military, but this did remind me of my sister, who is currently far from home at a service academy. Is Daisy a horse you grew up with?

Glad you found something in it. That's why I love telling stories.

Daisy is my current horse and a very young one at that. She reminds me, though, of a horse I did grow up with named Daphne (both are paints).
