More than two centuries ago, the land of Equestria was a place of harmony, friendship, and prosperity. It was a land that was growing, flourishing under the peaceful reign of its sister monarchs and an industrial boom that echoed through its pastoral valleys. And for young Equestrian Army Lieutenant Dawn Glean, it was everything she knew. But when a steamer carrying coal vital to Equestria's economy is captured by Zebra pirates on the open seas, Equestria will find itself reacting to a changing world, one in which the daring expedition to rescue the hostages reveals a bitter truth - that war changes everything.

A work of historical fiction set within the universe created by Kkat in Fallout: Equestria.

interesting cover art

Why the Fallout: Equestria universe and not the canon one?

Historical fiction requires, by convention, a history to set the story in. I had originally considered using the canon history, but fell in love with the detailed worldbuilding and history that Kkat made for Fallout: Equestria. It better suited the kind of story I want to tell.

Another reason is that to me writing is like a conversation we can all contribute to. The themes and ideas I want to explore make the most sense, to me, in the context of the conversation Kkat started with Littlepip's story.

Mlp comic season 10 finally introduced Zecoras zebra home

Your work is too good for this illiterate site, my friend. I'm absolutely loving the story.

By the way, you may wish to promote the story in relevant groups. The Shameless Self-Promotion group is perfect for that purpose, and you can add it to some other warfare and Fallout Equestria groups, too.

Thanks, glad you are enjoying it.

So it begins! Your descriptions are a wonder, my friend. Every scene flows into the next one smoothly and the pace is on point. I'm having a blast with this. You can really tell you've made your research both into the historical and fictional aspects of both the settings you're merging.

awesome chapter cant wait for the next chapter:pinkiehappy::twilightsmile:

Thanks! This chapter was fun to write. Mostly because Major Bolt may be my favorite character. :twilightblush:

awesome chapter keep it up:pinkiehappy::twilightsmile:

Just caught up with the story again! Great job with the past few chapters. :coolphoto:

Thanks everyone for all the positive comments - it tickles me that all of you are enjoying this story. :pinkiehappy:

You've probably noticed the new artwork for the cover and chapters. I hope to finish the sketches for chapters 5 - 8 this week. Also, chapter uploads will be slowing to once a week - I was burning through my buffer quicker than expected.

β€œThis work is written as an in-universe series of historical fiction novels.”

Uh oh.

Not Cherry Bounce! I liked that one! :raritydespair: Another awesome chapter. Here's to Captain Bounce, the bounciest of captains, and to her probable new career as a pirate.

RIP. Always sad when lives are lost to otherwise preventable circumstances.

I agree with you, she'd make a great Dread Pirate Roberts. She is in another story I wrote, but Death of the Author being a thing, I've put it in spoilers.

Unfortunately many records were lost with the destruction of Canterlot, so not much is known about Cherry Bounce's career. However, a diary entry by a zebra officer during the Great War mentions her in high regard and places her as a staff officer with an Equestrian brigade. Hopefully my research teams can find more about this bouncy mare.

Hopefully more will be known of Captain Bounce. She's best pony. 😎 Argh, it pains me to know that this will all end in pony-nuke fire in the end, but it's still great to see it play out. Latest chapter really took the plot on a rather intriguing twist! As I'm not versed in FO: Equestria lore, it's extra mysterious, but it seems like someone is trying to force a war between Zebras and Pones.

Heheh. I ship those two. :rainbowkiss:

No! :raritydespair: Not that one, too! All the good ponies are getting blammed!

Dawn is a 10/10 mega-cutie. Would prioritize her fire mission requests.

Just finished reading! Thanks a ton for writing this. It was a ton of fun to read. 😎

And hey! It's Cherry Bounce! Yes!

Thanks. It was a ton of fun to write (mostly :derpytongue2:) and a good learning experience. I hope to get started on the second book soon, but I also just started a new job so all that time I had is no longer a thing. :pinkiehappy:

I just finished reading this story. Very well done. I thank you for the time you spent writing it as u most certainly fell the time reading it was well spent. I particularly like the slight twist found in the historical note.
