Splendid thing to write this on a shorten length, It makes me wonder of how you know about impatient readers.
Also the pacing is very fast and describes a bit of a picture, Remember; language is like making a picture through voices -in this case words- to paint the reader about what the scene is supposed to be.

All and all, Nice one.

I am going to try to paint this picture the way I see it as.
My problem with this chapter was that I was vary rushed with trying to reach the word limit of 1k words, without thinking about the actual story.
The chapters from now on will take more time.
