It is good to see. I think it's pretty common that we don't know how many people there are that would welcome us if we just reached out and showed them a gentle side.

There's a lot of complexity around a poly relationship that I hope I explore at least semi-realistically - fantastical horses and society notwithstanding. Damme is a lot like our society when it comes to relationships, and Merrie is sort of an amalgamation of many utopian ideas. There are issues, of course, as there are with any utopia, and this isn't meant to be a perfect society, so... yeah. I really wanted to explore what it was like to have two different societies meet over this one issue.
(And considering that we've had disputes over far smaller things, I don't think it's unrealistic to have a long-running dispute over this - though the real dispute isn't over the sexual mores, but rather something more common and familiar: pride and power.)
Sorry for the delayed reply. I've been spending some time away from the internet for the most part over the past week.
Don't know what happened here... double-posted somehow.. but with a blank.
Gotta stop worrying your pretty head Collar. You're gonna get a lotta grey in your mane if you do.
I can sense this is gonna be a fight at some point. Or a fight they've had that hasn't really ever resolved itself.
For real, at that point Roseate should just set up a separate kingdom if she's gonna exile everyone. Stupid Evil Mom Horse.
PFFT.
....is that a tiara that should belong to Rosewater?
Hmm...so Silk is more on the side of Rosewater, while Crown...I dunno, I can't get a read on her yet. But I'm just hoping that the sisters that hate Roseate start to move against her after seeing what Rosewater is doing.
I can’t help but feel that even if Roseate somehow managed to dominate Merriedamme. The city and larger region would be depopulated rapidly as more then half the population evacuates to a place where they wouldn’t be ruled by a despotic tyrant who would likely prosecute their traditions and culture.
This is before Celestia comes smashing down the palace doors because the only way Roseate could gain absolute control has either not been revealed yet or is blatantly illegal both in the treaty and Equestrian law.

It's one of those things he has asked for advice from his father on, as well. Understanding the city across the river is vital for the heir of Damme to grasp. As far as fights about to happen, possibly. As far as fights that have happened in the past, probably. It likely came up earlier in their relationship but never reached a resolution. On the surface, he accepts her "infidelity" as a part of being in love with her - of course, he has examples that it's not infidelity, so he fights with himself and what he learned by growing up in Damme as much as he tries to accept her own growing up expectations and lifestyle.
*glances left, glances right* Shh. That's not for another few years.
But seriously. This whole project started by trying to figure out what happened in the past for a project that I've sorta started working on for the present day of this historical branching into an AU. Roseate is a part of that past as well. And Celestia's propensity for exiling problems rather than dealing with them directly.

You're not wrong. She would be like a second coming of King Sombra if she had her way... ain't no way Celestia's letting that gain steam again. Not after that was the first domino in the last Fall of civilization that culminated in the Battle of Two Nights - when Luna went mad.
