The 45 Seals of Equestria, a mystical lock created by Starswirl the Bearded to seal away an ancient evil has begun to unlock piece by piece. As Starswirl, aided by Princesses Celestia and Luna, journey to find the pony responsible and re-seal the prison for all eternity, the ancient evil locked away has already begun to create an apocalypse for Equestria. With Twilight and her friends at a loss for options, it would seem that Equestria is meeting it's final days at the hands of the most cataclysmic event in it's history.

Considering the seals and this demon were around long before Discord even existed, let's just say Discord's magic wouldn't be nearly enough to fix the seals nor come close to matching Azakon's power. I'm trying to make that staggering difference in power between the demon and everyone else a big point throughout the story.
