Falling

The Invention

I was in the workshop, looking through my inventing journal; I looked over after pile of metal on the table and, with a sigh of defeat headed inside. My mother, Diamond Tiara, was in the kitchen marking dinner. My father, Pipsqueak, was in the living room reading the news.

"You came just in time," she said as she took the pot off the stove.
Mom poured the soup into bowls and brought them over to the table. Dad and I came over and sat down, while Mom poured the tea. During dinner, Mom tried to start a conversation with me, but I wasn't up for it. My invention wasn't working, and my dream would fail! The rest of dinner was spent in awkward silence.

Afterwords, I went to my room and laid in bed. My dream is impossible! An earth pony, like me, becoming a Wonderbolt, as if! I looked at the poster hanging on my wall. It was my dream to become the first earth pony Wonderbolt, but I was losing hope. I wish I was a pegasus instead of a stupid earth pony! Right after that thought, I felt shame rising in me. It didn't matter if I was an earth pony, I shouldn't give up! Just like Rainbow Dash, I won't give up!

With my new hope I got ready for a good night's sleep, so i would have extra time to create in the morning! I was so distracted when Mom came in to say goodnight, I never heard her say the first day of school was tomorrow.
