What could have been a normal, beautiful day is thoroughly ruined for Twilight Sparkle when her horn suddenly starts casting wild and uncontrollable spells. Life within Friendship Castle is quickly turned upside down while she searches for a cure.
This cure, however, turns out to be a lot different from what she expected.

Takes place during season 7.

Includes some head-canon about alicorns and their physiology.

Amber Starbright is a character from my previous story Twilight's first fan.
This is a sequel in only the broadest sense of the word, reading Twilight's first fan is not required to enjoy this one.

Honestly, if I could downvote just one part of a story, and not the whole thing, it would be Twilight's stupidity in not writting to Celestia sooner.

Seems to be a constant that a lot of writters use in situations like this. And her excuses always fall flat for me.

Have a fav though since I do like the story.

This was nice. Well done Author.

A nice explanation for the signature, ethereal manes of the older alicorn pair, as well as the current lack of said manes for the younger three (yep, I'm including Flurry Heart). Smart, well-written, and a very enjoyable slice-of-life and worldbuilding. Well done! :pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy:

Interesting take. Though some, including myself, also think that the regalia they wear also acts as inhibitors. Still, great story!!!

Both ponies stood there for a long moment. Then Starlight said reverently, "that was the most wicked thing I have ever seen!"

:rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh:
And Twilight's reaction to the inhibitor is funny and an exhibit of how desperately she wants to quit the unplanned spell casting.

Just imagine Rarity finding out they can personalize the way they make their manes look. Heh heh heh.
I was wondering if this was how the story was going to go. Not disappointed. Alicorn magical puberty (that's what I think of it as).

That was pretty good! An idea I've seen done before, but much better than the usual fare.

Thank you! I actually haven't seen it anywhere else, but I guess the concept is pretty straightforward and I'm not surprised it has been done before.

Thanks to all the other comments as well!

"But... but..." Twilight hesitated, thinking hard. "But why only through my horn, then? Why have I only been casting spells? Shouldn't I have... I don't know... randomly started napping or applebucking or whatever it is pegasi and earth ponies do with their magic?"

In Ponyvile, Applejack and Rainbow Dash have a sudden urge to murder a certain purple pony princess, for being tribalist like that.
