Well... I'll be honest,I have no idea who Mr. Willow is, but this was enjoyable. Whitetail Woods as the setting was a nice change from the constant presence of the Everfree forest in fiction. The idea of Fluttershy walking so peacefully through an ancient and magical forest isn't really that hard to believe, given her affinity for nature. My one question is who is she waiting for, if not Mr. Willow, who she told to go back to sleep? Well, I'd probably know if I knew the source, but still.

You ever read the fellowship of the rings? It's from the beginning of the book. The movies skip it, but the hobbits go through the Old Forest to get to Bree, and encounter a couple of beings, including Old Man Willow, and the guy who shows up in the end. I'll leave his identity to another.

I almost think a certain willow that whomps.

Great story.I really love The Lord of the Rings.:yay:

Old Man Willow is dangerous but not to Fluttershy.

Well this was the cutest Pony/Middle Earth crossover I've ever seen.

Whelp, ya got me. The title is such an obscure reference that I missed it completely. Since "Withywindle" sounds like something Lewis Carrol would come up with, and far too whimsical for Tolkien, I actively dismissed LoTR as a source. I considered she might be meeting an Ent, dismissed because of the title. When the approaching song came up I thought, "Maybe it's ol' Tom?"... but scoffed it off because of the title again. Ya got me good.

Though after refreshing my memory of the song I must say it's a dang clever crossing point, "Hobbits! Ponies all! We are fond of parties." indeed.
