Assuming Command (Chapter 1)

I know that this chapter may be..... uninteresting, but this week if finals week for me and it's hard to make these with excellent with your parents forcing you to study (especially if you have a "D" in World History). I will get back on the right track when finals are over. Thank you for understanding.

Christmas Morning, 2025, Earth

It's Christmas morning on the planet we call Earth. The year? 2025. Almost every family in America had children of all ages running or stalking down their wooden, stone, carpeted stairs, waking anybody who was in the remaining parts of the house. Their parents, pets and older siblings awoke to the sound of quick thumping of children's feet down or up the stairs. Once the kid or kids reached the bottom, they were amazed to find that under their tree were tens of perfectly wrapped presents just screaming to the kids, "open me!". Boxes wrapped with goodies and toys that came in small and large boxes, as the boxes came closer to the children's hands. The closer the kids got, the size of the presents grew.

The children big and small, rich and poor, were ecstatic at the many unwrapped toys, electronics, and goodies laying across the living room. For some families, however, there was one key part missing on their joyous day. The true meaning of Christmas and the reason why those kids are here to experience this joyous holiday. One of their parents. Most families had their parents recording videos or taking selfies on their mobile devices, but this group of parents, however, could not show for their kids, for they had a duty to fulfill so their kids could be safe at home. A duty that determined the fate of their kids.

Tyrol, Austria December 26, 2025, Christmas Day in America 300 Miles from the European Front

American units stationed in Tyrol, Austria were supporting the European front in the case of a major frontline push from the Russian Commune consisting of Russia, North Korea, Mongolia, the "stans" and Ukraine. The American units stationed at Innsbruck are about to have their much-deserved sleep for they have to go to the frontlines for a massive assault on the Kiev, Ukraine. In one part of the compound, was a barracks for the Americans to sleep in. This unit was led by our hero, Capt. Tyler Gooding, he was watching his children open their gifts before he goes to bed. His children are, Charlie, an 11-year-old-boy wanting a new pair of football gloves for his middle school football team, and Susie, an 8-year-old who wants a new robot doll. They have been good to their mom, and have kept almost perfect grades so they deserve these toys. When they finished opening up their presents, Charlie left to have a snowball fight with the neighbors and Susie watched an episode of My little Pony Season 6. The series had ended 2 years before Tyler got deployed but he has binge-watched the entire series with Susie while he has been away. That's what got him into being a brony, it was his daughter. Once the episode ended he said goodnight to Susie and turned off his communicator. When he plugged in his communicator to charge, on the nightstand beside him, a purple vortex of some kind had appeared directly in front of him. He closed his eyes as the vortex blinded him for a short time. Then, he notices the character standing in front of the vortex on the other side. It was Princess Luna! With eyes in shock, he approached the 9' vortex very cautiously for it could have been a bomb. Suddenly the base alarm went off and soldiers woke up from their slumber and rushed into the barracks and saw Tyler standing next to the vortex.

"Captain," screamed one of the soldiers, "get away from that!"

Tyler briefly stared at the squad that entered and was quickly pulled in by a dark blue hoof, that once Tyler was pulled in blinded him. As the soldiers were attempting to save Tyler, the vortex closed behind him.

"Well," one of the soldiers said surprisingly casual, "I guess you're in command now Sergeant."

Somewhere in the vortex, heading toward Equestria

Tyler woke up from his quick slumber as he was moving slower than time itself. Images appeared all around him followed by a pink fastly moving vortex going to where he came from, "where were these images from?" he thought. He thought to himself, I haven't seen these images yet. Wait these are from the future." He looked around to see some dark pictures of what he thought will happen. He looked to his left and saw what looked like newly appointed General Rainbow Dash's chest being impaled by a spear and General Applejack jumping in front of a magic shot to save a filly. These pictures brought tears to his eyes as the blood was too much. "I can and I will change this!" he thought. As another blinding light came closer to him, and instantly faded to black.
Princess' Throne room, 2016 Common Pony Era

Tyler is still unconscious at this stage, not knowing where he is. He hears feminine voices of what sounded like a millennial and a much younger Queen of England, using her thou's instead of you. Tyler knew who that was, if it wasn't obvious enough, but who was the other person's voice?

"Luna, I am sure this human can help us, you'll see." This mysterious voice kept Tyler thinking on who it was.

"I hope this thing can change the war dramatically," Luna stated with little confidence. After that statement, Tyler immediately thought, "Wait, War!" he thought with distress, "Another war that I have to deal with; like I haven't had enough trouble with fighting people anyway."

He continued to ponder about what he had seen in the vortex, and all of the sudden he felt a small lump on the inside of his lower left ankle. It was his ankle weapon; more precisely, an M1911 Colt that had a full magazine of 7 bullets. He realized that he could move and leaped up onto his two feet grabbing his gun on the way up. As he stood on his own two feet, he had his camouflage uniform on with 2 extra clips in his left chest pocket. Surprising Luna and Twilight as he popped up Tyler pointed his gun at Luna and screamed louder than he ever has.

"WHERE AM I? WHY AM I HERE?!" Tyler demanded as the guards crashed into the room. His voice echoed throughout the castle alerting almost the entirety of the castle. Strength and sound on Earth are scaled differently than in Equestria. So it's a lot louder there than on Earth.

"Now, calm down, and I will explain," Luna said attempting to calm down Tyler but his voice raised even louder.

"And what is the reason that you have to take me from my unit," Tyler waving his gun around furiously, "what's the reason why you have to...." He stopped, hearing his voice echoing through the castle, and started crying, "to take my family away from me, *sniff* *sniff*, if I don't get back everyone will think I'm dead." Tyler sobbed as he lowered his weapon, and sat down, head angled towards the carpet. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle anybody..errp, any pony" Twilight and Luna approached the weeping man and comforted him.

"Now that we have calmed down, may I please explain what is going on?" Luna stated in a more comfortable tone.

"Please," Tyler exclaimed.

Twilight and Luna are a bit tipsy currently with their safety with Tyler now that they know he has a weapon of which no one knows about. Thankfully, they realize that Tyler knows them by heart, so it should be somewhat comfortable. Luna insists that Tyler comes to the War Room where they can identify where the frontlines are falling apart from. While informing Tyler about what will happen, Luna uses a blue wall, pony, and star pieces to identify where the forts, armies, and cities are. The Red pieces were the Changeling front line commanded by King Sombra and Queen Chrysalis. From the looks of it, the entire front is focused on Manehattan and Manechester, they were shelling Manehattan with artillery like magic shots. Thankfully, they evacuated the city before the attack, but if they take control of Manehattan, they only have 200 miles to push, and with their quickly trained Changeling reserves, it will be hard to push them back. Luna and Twilight's plan was risky but it would work. Their plan was to let them take Manehattan and fight them halfway between Manehattan and Manechester. At that point, they would ambush the oncoming army and trap them in a canyon that separates the two provinces. Luna and Twilight, are confident that it will work but they need an army general.

"Now Tyler, I know things can be difficult at this point but, will you command our Army into battle?" Twilight proposed with hope. Tyler was going to say yes and tell her about something that might happen but, she happily glanced at Tyler with the eyes that a dog would use, but, and I quote, 20% cooler.

"Yes, I will accept your offer," Tyler said with pride and courage. As Tyler ended his sentence, Twilight hugged him and cried tears of joy.

"With this, I promote you to General Tyler Gooding of the Army" Luna declared. Hearing a roar of cheers from all around her.

"Thank you, Ma'am" Tyler thanked Luna and marched out of the room.

"Do you think this will work?" A globally known voice came from the corridor, it was Celestia's. She came back into the room behind Luna with bandages wrapped around her wing.

"Let us hope that it does sister," Luna losing all of the confidence she has after that one sentence, "For our sake.... and his."
