All he ever wanted was to see Quul once more, but instead he was dragged to an unknown world full of new possibilities and dangers. More importantly, a second chance. A second chance at life.
Bjørn isn't going to waste that chance. So that means dodging danger, avoiding contact with sentient life, and living in solitude. But will he really be left alone?

So far, so good. I wonder if there will be anything bear related in the museum... So the main character is a shapeshifter? He can turn into a bear. It wasn't working before, but then it suddenly was? And can he turn into other things? The beaver tail suggests that he probably can.
Then you've also characterised the narrator too, I remain neutral on that point. I will add this story to Tracking and see where it goes.

Hand touched the grass and felt fur? This is what made me assume his powers were working and for my brain to start rendering him as a bear from that point. So what is the fur that he felt and why did he find his hand to be brown?
Also, I wondered why he found the fish disgusting to eat when he was already planning on hunting another animal such as the bear?

The fur was the Mama Bear's, he was tracking her to find and eat her. The "it" is referring to the fur, sorry if I didn't make it clear.
For your second question, he was going to cook the food before he ate it. He ate the fish raw.
