"So, where to next?"

Twilight Sparkle walked out of the bakery, a smile to be worn on her face. That was actually, a lot more...fun than she had expected. She ate all kinds of different cupcakes, brownies, muffins...well, not that much. Maybe a bite or two of each, she didn't have the biggest sweet tooth around. Though, she did enjoy herself. She had to give credit to Pinkie; those really WERE the most delicious treats she'd had in a while, though her opinion could've been biased to due to her not having a sweet snack in so long. Either way, those things were GOOD, and they hit the spot just right.

Though she had a good time trying out all the assortments of delicious goods - which were free to her due to Pinkie baking them - she still had a hard time processing her thoughts. They were running through her head, and she didn't like them. Thoughts that didn't particularly pertain to friendship.

'No.' she thought to herself. 'This is just the stress getting to you. Come on, Twilight, you've had a rough couple of days. You've been working your flank off to get those studies and reports done, you haven't exactly took a moment to go out and get something to eat and relax. Don't trick yourself so easily.'

This wasn't an easy subject to Twilight. She didn't know how to handle emotions like these, and she didn't want to. She had barely met the pink pony for crying out loud. She spent her whole life neglecting friendship. If she barely knew anything about friendship, how was she supposed to...well...comprehend these emotions? Twilight had never been one for socializing, and she DEFINITELY wasn't one for getting crushes-

Twilight shook her head. She didn't want to think of that word. She didn't like that word. That was a dumb word. A word fillies used on the playground at recess. Ha, she was no filly. She was a mare, an adult- crush wasn't the word she wanted to use, it was-

"Twilight! Look, it's Rainbow Dash!"

SMACK.

Twilight tripped over, face planting into the ground. The sound of Pinkie's voice alarmed her, she zoned out again. She really needed to stop talking to herself in her head.

Pinkie held a hoof out, frowning as she helped Twilight catch balance again.

"Twilight, you need to be more careful. I don't want you getting hurt."

There it was again. Twilight quickly pulled her hoof away and began wiping herself off. She couldn't help but blush at this, she had just publicly tripped over and Pinkie saw! Though, she didn't know why she cared that Pinkie saw. She didn't want to know why she cared.

"I'm sorry, Pinkie. I just spaced out a little, that's all."

"Again? That's like, the third time today, Twilight? What's gotten into you, is something wrong? If there's something on your mind, you know you can tell me."

Pinkie smiled at her friend, hoping to reassure her. Twilight wasn't looking so good, her face seemed kinda pink and puffy all day. All in all, she just wanted to make sure she was okay.

"I-I'm fine, Pinkie. I'm fine."

Twilight looked around, desperately wanting to change the subject. Her face lit up, however, when she saw the cyan blue pegasus floating above in front of her. She had almost forgotten she was there. Well, even with Pinkie yelling 'Rainbow Dash!' straight into her ear. She looked up and smiled as she began to speak.

"Afternoon, Rainbow-"

"HAHA! Twilight, you just FACE PLANTED and everypony saw! What an egghead!"

Rainbow busted out laughing and fell to the ground. Twilight furrowed her eyebrows, slightly annoyed at the fact that Rainbow had called out her small stunt. She was just about to say something, just about to give Rainbow Dash a lecture on how hurt she could have been when she caught Pinkie out of the corner of her eye sharing small giggles with her. Now two of her friends were laughing at her. She felt ashamed. She didn't like being teased.

"That's not funny, Rainbow Dash. I could've seriously hurt myself."

Twilight tried to sound confident, but in all honestly she was upset. Her feelings were hurt, but she didn't want to say anything. It definitely would've been funny from any other ponies eyes, but since it was her, she didn't think it was. Oh well, what was she thinking, Rainbow and Pinkie were the two biggest pranksters around. She couldn't stay mad at them forever.

"Oh, I know, Twilight. I didn't mean to laugh, it's just that, well, Dash's laugh is SO contagious! Haha!"

Pinkie let out a snort and began to hysterically laugh. Rainbow caught onto it, laughing even harder than she had before.

"Pinkie, stop! When you laugh, I laugh!"

The pegasus and earth pony were in a fit of laughter and all Twilight could do was watch. Oh well, at least they weren't laughing at her anymore.
'Come on.' Twilight thought to herself.
'It was a little funny, I suppose. Rainbows laugh is pretty funny, but Pinkie snorts when she laughs. That's more cute than it is funny.'

Twilight shook her head. She was doing it again. It wasn't weird to find her friends laugh cute...right?

As the two other ponies continued to laugh, Twilight couldn't help but feel herself smile. The two ponies losing their minds in front of her was quite a sight. She hadn't seen Rainbow Dash laugh as hard as she was.

"Oh Dash, you crack me up!"
Pinkie said, wiping tears from her eyes.
"That was the hardest I've laughed all day!"

Rainbow Dash picked herself up off the ground and began to flap her wings. After she was up in the air, she stretched out a little bit before letting out a couple more small chuckles.

"Yeah Pinks, I bet. You haven't made me laugh that hard since, well, the last time YOU laughed that hard. That was just too much."

Rainbow shifted her eyes towards Twilight, letting off a devious smile.

"And what's with you, egghead? I saw that blush, you totally spaced out. Then you just tripped and got even more flustered! What is it? See a stallion you like?"

Twilight lost her smile.

Rainbow began to taunt her. She landed on the ground, walking a few inches closer, which wasn't necessary since Twilight backed away a step every time Rainbow inched closer. Something was off about this unicorn today, and Rainbow wanted to know the details.

Twilight felt her whole body fluster as her face turned a bright shade of pink.

"N-No! I most certainly did not!"

'What an awkward question' she thought to herself.
'No, it'll be okay. You can play this off. Ha, stallion? I'm the prized pupil of a princess! I wouldn't have time for such things, Rainbow knows this.'

Twilight backed away even more, looking towards the ground. Rainbow continued to inch near. And from the looks of it, she wasn't going to give this up.

'Crud.' Twilight thought.

There was no way out of this, she was acting too suspicious. Rainbow had caught on, and she knew. She didn't want anypony to know, nopony could know! These feelings were just an illusion, and she'd have to wait them out until they go away. Twilight was never interested in stallions, let alone mares!

"Twilight, you're doing it again! Come on, who is he~? You can't fool me forever!"
Rainbow Dash began cooing to Twilight, trying her best to get those words out of her mouth.

"Was it him, or him? Oh, I bet it was him!"

Rainbow Dash began to point out different stallions in the crowd, all of them flustering and backing away. Except for one, who flipped his hair and smiled, glad somepony noticed his handsomeness.

Twilight stuck her tongue out in disgust. That pony really needed a haircut, nopony should have THAT much hair on their-

Nevermind.

However, she wasn't buying it. Instead, she turned her head upwards and smiled.

"Nopony, you know why? Because I'm here to study the magic of friendship, NOT play emotional games with stallions. I don't even like stallions!"

Rainbow Dash's eyes lit up in surprise. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Twilight Sparkle, the most important protege, the smartest unicorn around, the Element of Magic...did not like stallions. Oh man, wait until the others hear this.

"Twilight.."
Rainbow Dash tilted her head, smirking.

Twilight opened an eye and glanced at Rainbow, tilting her head as well. She let off a confused expression, one as if to say 'what? what'd I do?'

Rainbow Dash couldn't help but burst it out, this was too much for her to handle.

"Twilight, you like MARES!"

Pinkie looked at Twilight in surprise. As did, well, every other pony outside. Those words screamed out, causing everyone to quiet down. Not one single pony turned away, even the birds had turned their heads to see what the commotion was going on with this sudden outburst.

Oh no. Twilight felt her face heat up. She didn't even want to look around, not when she had hundreds of eyes being planted on her. She felt her heart drop as she held back tears. This had to be the most embarrassing moment of her life. She didn't want to cry, that would just make her seem weak. That would double the embarrassment.

Twilight, surprisingly, managed to croak a few words out in response, even with everyone staring at her.

"I did not say that! I said I don't like stallions! That doesn't mean I... that doesn't mean I..like mares! You're mixing my words up, Rainbow Dash!"

Twilight wanted to escape. Badly. Now.

Rainbow Dash continued to smirk, however. She thought it was adorable how Twilight became so flustered when those words were said. Rainbow knew something was up, nopony reacts the way Twilight did unless they're trying to hide something. Twilight wasn't the lying type, so she had to give it to her- at least she tried.

"Alright, alright Twi. I didn't mean to get you so worked up. But hey, I think it's time I should be going. Didn't mean to cut it so short. I gotta get some things ready for this afternoons session. I'll catch you two later, okay? Pinkie, remember we have something to do later, okay?"

Rainbow Dash sped off, creating a gust of dirt in Twilight's face and leaving a rainbow trail behind her.

'Out of sight, out of mind' Twilight wondered to herself, sighing.

"I'll catch up with you soon, Dashie!"

Pinkie screamed at the already gone Rainbow Dash. She hoped she heard her, although she probably didn't.

Twilight noticed that most of the crowd had turned away from the scene, going along with their day. The fillies and colts continued to play as the parents continued to shop. Twilight was just glad it was over. She relaxed a little.

Pinkie turned to her purple unicorn friend and smiled.

"Hey Twilight, I gotta go for now. I did promise Rainbow I would help her pull some pranks this afternoon, we're gonna get Applejack soooo good! I would invite you, but I know you're not into that stuff. So I'll see you around, okay?"

Twilight nodded in response with a smile, watching as the other happily bounced away.

After Pinkie was out of sight she turned her head forward again and frowned.

She just wanted to go home, stay inside and forget about all of this mess. She didn't feel like seeing Pinkie, or Rainbow Dash, or any of her friends for that matter. She knew Rainbow Dash would go around laughing at her, and what if her other friends did too? She didn't want that, she just wanted to hide. Hide from all of this. At least Spike wasn't here, she knew he would be one to continuously make fun of her, just like Rainbow.

Twilight started on her way home. It was only 3:00 in the afternoon, and she was not having it. This bright and sunny day just became a grumpy day for Twilight. It wouldn't be so bad maybe. She had books on her mind, and warm tea. Just her and her reading. Ah yes Twilight, you genius. You've done it again. A relaxing end to and exhausting day.

Thud.
She tripped. Again.

Thankfully however, nopony was around to witness it. That was the last straw, though. Twilight did not want to be outside anymore. After dusting herself off, she sprinted home, and did not stop until she was behind the wooden doors with the lock down,

Rainbow Dash was catching on. And she was NOT good with secrets.

She didn't want to face anyone.

They were all going to know.

Author's Note:

Ah! Another chapter. I'm not used to writing, honestly. Romance probably wasn't where I should have started, it's definitely not as easy as I thought! I kinda want these chapters to be simple and short. Like a very, very long one-shot. It's just supposed to be a simple story, but a little too much for me to put together. However, I do hope you enjoy!

P.S. Thank you for the favorites! I expected a lot of negativity, but I'm glad it's at least enjoyable! I'll get better with practice and motivation! :twilightblush:
