This is a very good story, although any supporting characters should stay in Ponyville. Remember to proofread, there were some grammatical and spelling errors. I would've just made Derpy generally clumsy.

Thanks for the input. Yeah, I am trying to get over a handicap of spelling and the grammatical errors i'll try to keep an eye out for. I hope with later chapters you'll see my reasoning's behind character choices and how they play into the whole story, and not just as a plot moving character.
I like this idea of a outpost overlooking Tartarus. Nice call back to gen 1 with the choice of name too.
