5406499 I'm actually a dude lol. Even though there is still racism in this shitty world of ours, I refuse to acknowledge it, for once you do that, you give it substance. And do you see where racism got us?
Wait ona second, Coco? Coco Pommel? Coco Pommel is a pedophile?! I did not see that one coming. Also, will someone please slap DT, she is such a bitch.
5406531 That's your deal. Some stereotypes exist for a reason. Black people love R&B and fried chicken. White girls love pumpkin spice lattes and ugg boots.
Still, your "cheap laughs don't make a good story" line doesn't make much sense when you literally stopped within the second section.
I have a feeling this is going to end like The Breakfast Club where everyone gets stoned out of their minds and then talk about their feelings and insecurities for an hour straight.
5405851 He's got green hair. I feel like Twilight wouldn't. Let him die it thus his hair must be naturally green. Orrrr I could be wrong. Depends on your head-cannon I guess.
5407328 Well he's saying that the fact that that line was meant to incite cheap laughs doesn't necessarily invalidate the rest of his story, which is quite good in my opinion. I think that's a pretty fair point because you shouldn't be able to tell if a story is any good from the first few paragraphs. Just because one particular line, or one particular joke isn't to your liking in the first few paragraphs isn't an overly fantastic reason to stop reading but, who am I to judge, I've dropped stories for less.
5407328 buuuuuuut...this is a story where they're humans in a human world and racism could still totally exist?
I mean come on. It was just supposed to be a dumb joke. Hell I've even MADE that joke with my actual friends. They laughed.
She even, and I quote, said "Oh shit I am such a white girl!" *cue genuine laughter*
I dunno, it just seems so weird to me you'd get upset over something so small. Friends joke like that all the time because they're friends. Half the shit we say to each other as friends is jokes and non serious
5407328 This story is more for those who live in more racially diverse areas and have social experiences with being friends of other races to be enjoyed fully, as apparently Scootaloo is hispanic in this one? And Sweetie is the stereotypical white girl that makes stereotypes of what a 'white girl' is seem true.
That 'white girl' bit could be a crack on pastel white people in that world, we don't know. That whole white girl thing made me pause for a few minutes to debate what this story was being set in, the 'white girl' cliche may seem offensive, but that's just Scootaloo and Apple Bloom (AB likely being white herself in this fic) and wasn't intended to be cruel to Sweetie Belle, just that she's overly cliche to what a 'whit girl' tends to order or act like.
But the three are close friends and it's not uncommon for one to josh the other over being a certain race when they do something stereotypical. It'd only become offensive if it was constantly brought up, which it hasn't since that one scene.
*shrug*
The SCC scene was a hiccup for me, but I took it for what it was. Though now I get all these horrifying 'race defined' drawings of Equestria Girls art with most the girls looking 'white' and makes me so glad Hasbro went with sticking to the Pastel colors of their pony counter parts since jesus christ that art style looks horrendous when people put in human skin tones on it. Not good with the movies' art style one bit.
But, people still feel the girls should all be white because no way any hispanics, blacks (or at least not very many blacks) would go to such a clearly 'white' dominated high school. Believe me, DA is full of crazy people with that mentality. Best to avoid lingering around those areas of the site's Equestria Girls fanarts. EQG has a nice way of bringing out the racist in the racists. xD
But fics like this use the races well. They aren't stated, only implied through stereotypes of cliches. And that's only if you're reading too much into them.
In any event, it's your right to not continue reading it for any reason you feel like, so just ignore the comments (even this one) that come into your feed. You were offended and that's a good enough reason for you to put things down and move on. Now for the commenters to do the same and respect that. Just try not to spoil things for those who are enjoying it though.
I managed to get past the awkwardness of the one friends among friends making silly jab at SB for her pumpkin drink, but we all have our own individual ways of taking a scene. I will say that for me, that scene was perfectly natural for friends to do.
Refusing to acknowledge racism not only removes you from impeding it, but allows it to flourish. Your philosophy is hypocritical and by shutting your eyes you allow bigotry to thrive, making you an enabler. But this was not racism, this was a joke that was racially-dependent. RACISM is malice. There was no malice here. You have made a fool of yourself.
Also, as a proud black man who is well-read and mindful of the history of his ancestors? I can tell you, YES, we love the fuck out of fried chicken, and I am currently drinking grape koolaid. I also have half a watermelon in my fridge. Stereotypes do exist for a reason.
That ending. Yes. Just yes.
Cocobelle? Yes.
SOMEONE WRITE IT!
5402362 What the dickens would any ugly doofus have over Ponyville's genetically exotic royalty-raised bachelor from Canterlot?
Pipsqueak: "Boy, you done fucked up now". XD
5405792
They're all human. I don't think Spike is likely to be all that "genetically exotic".
I'm not sure how Wall O' Text.exe got here... it's fine, I'm just wondering.
5406499 I'm actually a dude lol. Even though there is still racism in this shitty world of ours, I refuse to acknowledge it, for once you do that, you give it substance. And do you see where racism got us?
Absolutely fucking nowhere.
5405360 I mean, come one, why do you have to make fun of white people in a story? Cheap laughs doesn't make a story, an actual good plot-line does.
To author: I didn't read past that point, so I have no idea if your story has a good plot or not. I'm not saying your story has a bad plot-line.
What? What was wrong with what Spike said?
I don't get it. What'd Spike do?
5406550 From my experience, it's not good when someone you're crushing on calls you 'adorable.' Usually means they have no interest in you.
I haven't read it yet (I will!), but just to lay this out up front: it's all fun and games until somepony gets stuck in the bottle.
Wait ona second, Coco? Coco Pommel? Coco Pommel is a pedophile?! I did not see that one coming. Also, will someone please slap DT, she is such a bitch.

Ah, such a great movie.

5407137 I am inclined to agree with you on that one.
5407036 Um, thanks? lol
5406991
It does make sense. You tried to use racial stereotypes in a universe where racism doesn't exist to generate shock laughs.
5407328 Well he's saying that the fact that that line was meant to incite cheap laughs doesn't necessarily invalidate the rest of his story, which is quite good in my opinion. And Spike with the save.
Track and a Fav champ. Keep it up
5407268
I would guess that they aren't fully humanised. Somewhere between EQG and IRL.

Also, to put my actual thoughts on the story down:
I'm loving it.
Here's hoping Applebloom gets her moment to talk(or more) to Spike. I NEEDZ EET
5408032 That would be great, I'm with you on that
Am I the only person who's favorite character in this is Pipsqueak?
5406531
You know, the simple solution is to stop being a pussy.
5408612 Okay, I'll my hardest mister!
5408629
Good on ya m8

In this universe? *shrug* I'd read it.
