This was heartbreaking... and yet I feel no sympathy for Cadence. All likability has been stripped from her through her actions. Her being such a manipulative little thing eats away at my ability to feel sorry for her.
I love Cadence. And you have made me hate her. Fantastic job, author. Really loving this story.
Oh, Cadance. He was a soldier. He could have told you how no plan survives contact with the enemy. And in your case, the enemy has death itself, which nothing survives regardless. Except phoenixes.
This interruption of Cadance's master plan was inevitable. Now we come to how she'll deal with it.

This part doesn't really surprise me, nor do I find it really objectionable, it's one thing that she can't ever let go and keeps a breeding program for spouses, and another to want them both to enjoy their private life to the maximum.
I mean, she's doing a lot of the seducing but it's still consensual, I doubt she'll ever actually physically force anyone into anything, specially her partners, since she's obsessed with keeping them as happy as possible and she can't be with them if she breaks their sexuality.
Also, she pretty much says she's eternally hormonal at the beginning, so she's probably been doing this kind of thing since her first husband.

The repetition at the end really hits it. Nice work
Shining Armor smiles weakly as he sees me, not rousing from his bed. “You came,” he says softly.
I run to his side. “Of course I came,” I say, nuzzling him. “I'm going to stay right here until you're ready to go home.”
I'm taking these lines out of context and nopony can stop me.
