Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle's relationship continues to be unhealthy. Celestia is confuzzled. And Pinkie Pie continues to be ridiculous and slightly sexist.
on the other wing she’s keeping secrets from you that must hurt her very much, and she obviously doesn’t trust you with them
Must not spoil for those who haven't been paying attention...
Yay, happy ScootaBelle fun times! They're working on it, 4267469. I'm sure they'll get it straightened out.
I know it'd wreck the story, but frigging talk to one another, ponies! It makes so very many problems go away, or at the very least makes them easier to solve.
You wanna know what I want to see again? Northern Spy and Rock Candy. Seriously, we haven't seen hide nor hair of either of them. They might as well not exist, now.
That's Cloud Chaser. I didn't mention her mane, but it's the blue and white mane. She's a little forward but she does run Weather Patrol. In the Trixie's Magic Bit stories, Cloud Kicker exists, but she WROTE Winningverse as a series of sort of wish-fulfillment romance novels, in which she acts the way she wishes she could act in real life. So, technically, Winningverse is Trixieverse canon, except it's the creation of a rather adorable and shy virgin lesbian pegasus
Maybe that's where she got most of her cues for her self-insert character: from her boss, Cloud Chaser?
4270934 ... Why? Spike, despite being a "baby dragon" is, in the show, usually a bit more mature than the CMC, who have all gone through significant characterization and maturation in this series. If he's relegated to "relates better to infants" it would be a huge demotion in maturity.
Probably to the degree where he wouldn't be able to usefully add to the story, and I'm really hoping he has an active role in the story and some strong character development coming.
4267469 By the time you are afraid half the species is secretly sociopaths, you're more than a little sexist. It's a sympathetic kind of sexist, but it's still pretty damn sexist and a big problem that... maybe is going to be addressed? It certainly hasn't for five stories, but traumatic things are coming back to Pinkie's life, and it might wind up going in unexpected directions for Pinkie.
And Cloudchaser's speech... Stallions are all awkward but don't be cruel to them about it, like you don't want to shatter a child's dream. The whole speech seems like "Well they're sexy but they're dimwitted." "I still like them though!" doesn't seem like much consolation for implying stallions as a whole are delusional as to being competent or impressive.
I wonder where Cloudchaser is coming from with her speech about how all stallions are manly brutes who want to stick it in and who secretly (or not) get off on rape fantasies. I think it's because she likes 'em that way, so that's what she knows.
That moment with the Cakes and how they knew Pinkie needed someone else was wonderfully unexpected and sad. They mean so well. And they're so right.
Between (actually, nearly EVERY character), we have a dynamic of different characters with different ideas about gender and sexuality.
Who was it here who said that the three who pulled short straws in the genetic lottery are also the three healthiest, well-adjusted ones?
So what I got from the chapter is that the pairing between Discord and an earth pony who's so severely handicapped that he doesn't know how to talk is still less destructive than the actions and opinions of Twilight and Fluttershy. And that Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle figured out how to be happy and loving despite having reached sexual maturity a matter of months ago. But Fluttershy still hasn't.
cant remember which one, but in one of the books Spike disappeared for SO long that Jinx lampshaded it by saying that he was taking a multi-week mini-hibernation.
4267509 for FUCK'S sake how can you have caught something that I didn't? What tiny bits of arcana are there to read that you've been to and I haven't? Is this in a room on the Minecraft server or something? The worst part is that you aren't the only one! WHAT THE HELL.
4274879 At the risk of spoiling yourself, go back and read Jinx's blog posts for the past year or so. No, I ain't telling you when, that'd be a blatant spoiler. Or you could try to puzzle it together from the chapters, it's entirely doable (and kinda blatant if you already know the answer to the riddle).
I no longer can fathom where this story is taking me. I thought I had a clue, a few chapters ago, but now... I don't know. The tone is melancholic, I think, over everything thus far, and I don't see any easy solutions. I cannot say I am being made happy, but not all art is for that purpose.
I find it amazing how subservient Celestia's personality is in this story. Like, suddenly Twilight starts being a super-bitch and throwing her weight around, and she folds like tissue paper? That's...that's REALLY difficult for me to believe. I understand that Chaos screwed up, buuuut...wow, common sense just not kicking in for anyone? Not gonna give her Swirlie the benefit of the doubt even in the slightest? Maybe sit down and talk to Chaos, just a little? No? 'Kay then. *slaps 'Fucking Moron' stickers on everyone's forehead except Sweetie, Scoots, Derpy and Rarity. Rarity just gets a gold star instead*
I know I've been pretty down while reading this, but I really want to heap some praise on the first half of this chapter. Cloud Chaser is a pretty incredible mare and the Cakes have the right idea. And these candid sorts of discussion are what this continuity really needs more of.
6791052 Thank you! Yeah, the Cakes are good people. They don't enter much into the Trixieverse books because they're not as exciting and don't generate drama. And they understand Pinkie real well, don't they?

Ummm, I'm a tad confused who Pinkie's supposed to be talking to in the first section. She addresses her as Could Chaser...

But her personality and tendency to refer to Fluttershy as Eepy are more like the popular fan personality for Cloud KICKER...

So is it supposed to be Cloud Chaser or is it just a name mix-up?

Cloud Kicker did also appear in Trixieverse. She is pretty cute. She writes stories, and longs to meet a nice mare and be swept off her hooves
4268448
...Ok, but I don't think that answered my question.

...I dont kniw how to feel
4269202
Oh, you'll feel. You'll feel.
4267841
Huh. Seconding this. I get the feeling that there'd be a solid heart-to-heart-to-heart between the two of them and Spike.

Commence read.
Definitely some interesting insights in the comments for this one.

My heart just broke. Why Celestia?
These ponies certainly need to learn how to comunicate properly.
