This is not really about Fluttershy's rape fantasies. Read between the lines.
And Derpy is not being rapey. If Rarity put forth any sort of objection, Derpy would be dismayed and immediately do the right thing. Rarity's taken some pains to make sure Derpy's eagerness was never dampened, perhaps even encouraged her quite openly. If there's a squickiness of consent there, it's that Rarity is concealing from Derpy the fact that getting abruptly jumped can hurt piquantly. Derpy would never be down with that if she knew, but then Rarity has never been able to explain BDSM to Derpy.
So, she explores her kinkier areas by ingenuity, and does it within responsible limits. She wouldn't present Derpy with a reality that hurt her, either. So, Rarity both entices Derpy to be rough, and takes pains to not go too far with it, because she can only play with that edge so long as Derpy doesn't understand it IS an edge.
Fluttershy's situation is totally, totally different (and much more consistent than it appears to be).
Ether I'm crazy, or fluttershy wants to die. It seems every book, that happens. Book one, might have been Trixie?. Book two, Big Mac and Rainbow Dash. Book three, Lyra and Rainbow Dash. Book four, Applejack and Trixie. Book five, Diamond Tiara. And now we have Trixie and Fluttershy. Applejinx, you are the master of multiple plots, and overreaching story arcs.
They do get awful upset, the ponies, and it does NOT help that the unicorn sex can be fatal if they arc too hard with alicorns. It combines love, passion, impregnation and death into this bizarre twisted unicorn fetishism.
Don't spoil, pones (though I'll see to it that the story is still good even for cleverpants smartguessers). I'm enjoying the hell out of the teasy, subtle comments. You'll come back and reread this someday and go OH! Dammit, now I get it, that was very witty
I don’t want to be asked, Pinkie Pie. I want to be driven. My opinion shouldn’t matter. My place is standing like a real mare, totally submissive, and I am the fertile field that the stallions plow. I don’t have to ask if they are pleased because they don’t hold back. I can’t disappoint them or do things wrong if they are real stallions and prepared to take everything they want
And just like that you've lost me on defending Fluttershy.
That's not a fetish nor is it a rape fantasy; that's being damaged to the core. It's self hatred, and it's sexism, and it seems like she's not ready to be helped. The difference between rape fantasy and whatever you want to call Fluttershy's thing here is the difference between Twilight's Midnight Violations vs Fall of Equestria. The former is about the dark thrill of Twilight being a terrible monster; the latter is about the reader's twisted and deeply misogynistic desire for characters to be subjected to torture and misery.
I'm not even slightly concerned with consent the way Eustatian is; I'm concerned with the fact that as it turns out fluttershy and her morals are just as bad as her haters were saying and everyone around her is so well meaning.
I'd say "give me cloudchaser dammit" since I got something upsetting in its place, but it seems that healthy and happy sexual relationships are destined to be left offscreen until the resolution phase of this story. One interesting thing about that is that Fluttershy's words here link right into all the other times she's shown us how she feels about herself.
Rarity had almost the same problem. Both Rarity and Fluttershy have been given true love and caring. Rarity was ready to be happy. Fluttershy apparently is not.
I swear, this chapter might set some kind of record for little foreshadowing hints.
I guess I can be fickle.
Engaging, enticing, cathartic, rage inducing, and skillful. 10/10
4196960 Eep, I wasn't trying to impugn Derpy's character. It was perfectly clear what was going on there.
But I really would have sworn that that scene, Derpy the overwhelmed and overwhelming suitor, was there to be illustrative of Fluttershy's desires. We spent all that time talking about her and then without even pause for breath we're into an old-fashioned, idealized form of the rape fantasy, except with characters so ill-suited to the tropes that I read it as parody. The bones of that sex scene that wouldn't have been at all out of place in my grandmother's romance novels, from back when good girl protagonists weren't allowed to say yes and it would have just been gauche to actually ask.
Trixie looked around hectically, and blurted, “That’s what Trixie has to talk about. Please, quickly!”
Rarity winked a mascaraed eye. “Indeed! Well, darling, I shall not fail you. Somepony has been riding you hard, from the look of it! Is it Twilight, she asked knowingly?”
4213538 No no, it's the same affectation as Vinyl Scratch once used. It's delivered in a sort of exaggerated tone of voice and Rarity is talking about herself in a slightly facetious way.
“Indeed! Well, darling, I shall not fail you. Somepony has been riding you hard, from the look of it! Is it Twilight, she asked knowingly?” Come on, Applejinx. I thought you were better than this.
4214163 Flamingly gay or very fashionable or very swishy effeminate self-mocking people. Rarity would never say such a thing unless she was in a very playful mood, which she drops when she sees things are really wrong. It's sort of a tipoff she's being frivolous and silly, and then the seriousness kicks in.
Monty Python uses that construction in the 'Nudge Nudge' skit. "nudge nudge, wink wink, PHOTOGRAPHS he asked him knowingly? snap snap, grin grin, say no more?"
I've seen Trixieverse!Fluttershy as deeply broken for a while, so that particular moment didn't much shock me. This Flutters has full-blown-codependent-tsundere-evil-crazybitch-dramahorse Borderline Personality Disorder. As such, I'd feel let down if some sort of "sexual healing" is the answer.
What Fluttershy needs is something nopony can give her. So, nobody blame Pinkie (especially you, Pinkie don't go blaming Pinkie) for not making her happy. Maybe I'm saying too much, but if this goes the way I expect it will, the trick will be forgiving Fluttershy.
I do not have the capacity to process Fluttershy here. I feel like a poor little dog, trying to understand the strange things the bipeds are saying. I hear my name, and tilt my head, because I can't grasp what the mood is, but I'm not hearing any words I know, like 'ball' or 'walkies'.
I was thinking, feeling - your stories do that to me - and suddenly something hit me. There is something about Fluttershy that is familiar. From the anxiety to how desperately, strongly she pulls to the feminine... almost intrepidly. Her insecurity. Her fetish acting almost to define her... Her reaction to the words 'I know your secret'.
I've always imagined Fluttershy as such, and in Equestria, with true, transformational magic extant... and the way she seems rejected by her own society. Her isolation. Her lack of parents. Her lack... of a past.
It is likely me bringing my own issues and experiences to your table, but...
Well, we'll see, I guess. But you have me wondering. It would so fit.
I forgot to comment earlier in this story, so I might as well do it now. I've FINALLY started reading this one. I remember reading the other ones—up until "Diamonds in the Rough" I think—in a big marathon. Now I'm able to start on this final beast. I've gotta say that I still absolutely hate Fluttershy in this story. Now I don't remember why, exactly, but I know it's there and that it has not gone away. Things are very interesting right now, and I'm feeling bad for Discord and Trixie. DiscordChaos hasn't even gotten a chance to explain herself, which I feel is a tad bit unfair. I can't wait to see how all of this madness unfolds. Onward to the next chapter!

This whole book is going to be about consent, I should think, or at least great chunks of it. Twilight and Fluttershy, lines and gray areas.
When even Derpy is getting rapey, you know something's up.
This is not really about Fluttershy's rape fantasies. Read between the lines.

Fluttershy is completely batshit.

Nooo! I want to LIIIVVVE!
Whoa, easy there lil' pony…
They do get awful upset, the ponies, and it does NOT help that the unicorn sex can be fatal if they arc too hard with alicorns. It combines love, passion, impregnation and death into this bizarre twisted unicorn fetishism.
Whee
Oh flutters, you have another secret? What is it this time? (Unless it's something already mentioned that I've forgotten...)
Pfffffft. After reading that one blog of yours, this chapter has a HUGE amount of dramatic irony, and it is HILARIOUS!
Don't spoil, pones (though I'll see to it that the story is still good even for cleverpants smartguessers). I'm enjoying the hell out of the teasy, subtle comments. You'll come back and reread this someday and go OH! Dammit, now I get it, that was very witty
PINKIE WTF!!!
words hurt too you know!!
not every stalline/man is like that!
but I still love this story
I think I remember what Flutters' other secret is. Unless there's another another secret.
Oh, and Jinx, do I get to do the "I told you so" dance yet, or do I have to wait for more of them / for them to get even more upset?
4197454 RariJinx what you are doing... I see it

Real quick:
This reads amusingly but I know it is an error

My little troll
I told Tactical, I wrote that on purpose. That's what she said

But that makes no sense! No one would ever say that in a real conversation!

Yeah I see it now. It's a nice touch.
"Furries sure are weird!... He said, in a comment on a futa clopfic. "
Or a clearer example was when my friend added it for me, as a jab.
"all the ladies in Arkham City are sex objects."
"... He said, while playing as Catwoman and kicking tons of ass. "

Fluttershy, with those deep dark secrets.

5033090 I also hate Fluttershy by this point....She causes lots of problems from the riots in Ponyville to Pinkie being constantly nervous.
