Wow dude, can't wait for the conclusion to this, been reading this since your first chapter of the prequel came out and loved it all, one of the best stories I've ever read pony or otherwise haha
Ho-ly shit! I don't know what to say. Man what an epic ending! Fuck, not only is Mender dead (again damn it!)_ but in this ending he can't except death...which is really sad. He's even going to research a way to come back. I sense this could turn into an awesome and heart wrenching story where Twilight has to confront Mender years later because of what he's done in the pursuit to be with her someday. So awesome! I can't wait for the next two endings!
Gotta say though that while the battle in the beginning had some awesome stuff in it, it was actually kind of a boring read because of the one sided slaughter that it was. The Gorsh have always been presented as these stupidly powerful force and to watch them (even if it wasn't the best representation of their military might) be easily tossed aside was a bit if a disappointment. It didn't really start getting interesting until Nirru's true plan started coming to light and they had to stop her from making her own portal then again when she was going to ram into Equis. Then fuck! Keela and the other keldarins died T_T. I was looking forward to them all coming over to the other side!
Man what a fantastic conclusion to an awesome story!
Best present I've gotten today! Definitely worth the wait. Best part was probably Nirru's final fall.
Gonna be looking forward to the other endings and any future works you put out. This is one the very few stories that I feel compelled to read the moment I see an update. Love it so much!
Great work. Looking forward to the other endings. Now all we need is to see Mender get bored of research and just start haunting the hell out of everyone.
I love quotes like this. Is it a hint for continuation? Is it the dissatisfaction of a higher being? Is it the resistance of reality from someone strong willed? Either way, some sneeky shit's gonna come out of left field and change things...
oh man what an ending! im speechless.... and slightly sad. but still an awesome ending! can't wait for the others!
i guess im kinda confused about what happened to Tym. it said he was 4km away from the ram. but after the explosion, it implied he was dead. Shining's team died from explosion. i guess 4km isn't far enough away when in a space suit
guess im also alittle concerned about how Mender made a massive warship in seconds from a blown up planet. no metal refinement, weapons and complex system all made. then all the ponies all knew exactly how to operate everything in it with only a short time of training. that kinda got under my skin abit but ill ignore it.
with how Mender said "Move in for the kill" twice, im surprised Fluttershy didn't say anything about that
without knowing anything about the other 2 endings, im curious if this is the one you plan on using to continuing to write off of. however by your last post about the 3rd ending heaving 'final mystery' makes me think that will be the ending.
It was going awesome with Megalovania turned on. For a while, I believed it was all going to end in a better way. Oh, to hell with preludes. Why did you do this again? Unfortunately, I can't help but feel an association with Star Wars' repeated building of the Death Star and its imminent destruction (watched the new movie, felt disappointed because of that Starkiller wunderwaffe; the movie isn't bad, though). The fact that I can't stand self-sacrifice doesn't help at all. Well, let's see what's in the next ending. At least, Mender doesn't have to stay dead... Does he?
Ohohoho! This chapter got a single tear out of me! It almost made me cry like I did in the first story.
It is yet to be seen, will I be able to add this story to my bookshelf of stories that made me cry? (Currently the only story in said bookshelf is the one before this one). Or will my Aspergious and other personality and mental quirks shield my heart from the sorrow?
I put off reading these for too long, the thought of it actually coming to an end made me pretty sad. And while I may be bummed that it's over, this chapter, and ending was amazing. Can't wait to read the next two.
I'm sad that I didn't find out about the story until it was already over. I remember reading the first one before it had a second ending. With that being said, I'm glad that you decided to continue because this is probably one of the best stories that I've ever read on this site.
Without reading the second or third endings, I think I got the gist of what the story is supposed to be. If I had to guess I would say that this entire story is written by Purdue and the line at the end of this first ending is supposed to be her saying that this isn't how it's supposed to be. It wouldnt surprise me if that was the case because you seem to have a talent with tying things together like that.
Before I go on to the last two endings all I can say is I love the way you ended this story, exactly the same as your first giving people two really satisfying endings. Even though I know the final ending is going to be really satisfying, I hope you decide to keep writing in this universe because you seem to have a really good talent and I think that there are a lot of neat little side stories that people like myself would love to read.
But however you decide the end all of this, I just want to thank you for writing this story.
rereading this ending i feel i partially agree with my previous comment when i originally read it. i didn't really remember very much at all about it so it was like reading it for the first time again. also i read it more through to absorb more details that i apparently missed when i first read it
i hate to say it but im not too happy about how all this story is ending and i dont mean this particular ending 1 of 3. Mender was already slightly overpowered but i think we all gave him that due to his special magic and enhancements. once the Ether was involved in the story it changed to be abit much. suddenly his parents are helping him, Twi is an alicorn, and they have almost endless magic power. He in 20 seconds built a dreadnought spaceship from random bits of floating hunks of planet, full of weapons, only operated by 6 inexperienced ponies and him only semi-experienced. as well enchanting and syncing 5 of the 6, making mechs for guards also inexperienced and linking them all remotley. and then using Ether to make and power everything. i get there is alot of material to work with in a planet but it was just way too much for me. all of which worked flawlessly first attempt with no glitches or failures. no specialty processes or refinements needed to make such complicated parts. jsut kinda formed together and ready for battle. he planned out everything in like a day with little sleep. yet he made a comparatively simple food delivery system over the course of a day.
the exploding apples i question. it was said they were only such a big explosion due to the oxygen in the air making them thermobaric. when tested at high altitude it did far less. but now they are in space using these apples for primary ammo with only residual amounts of air around. i get that the explanation is that there no longer thermobaric but now using the initial explosion and being about 300x more energy put into them and them shooting so fast somehow not letting them explode instantly. also using a zap apple was interesting idea but it was untested what it would do and due to the damage it causes could have been a very bad idea.
also i said it in my other comment but he says "Kill" a couple of times. while they are aiming to destroy the enemy, i dont think the ponies would like hearing him say that, especially Fluttershy
"Move in for the kill from the right flank,"
"Surprise advantage is ours. Move in for the kill, ponies!"
im guessing his deadly super weapon was in his 4th core and is no longer with him? thought only the captain infected his 4th core. i had the impression that the weapon infected his operating system in order to use it. otherwise it would seem really easy to jsut use the weapon and take out the Grosh and program it to not get Keelas ship. but that would be too simple i guess
if the Grosh are as evil as they say, i dont think they would keep there word of sparing Keelas ship or Nirru for that matter. really dont understand why they would give Nirru the flagship anyways. they wouldnt trust her and would just use here and kill her once they got their way
the ending seemed out of character despite being an interesting way to end it. just cant picture Mender acting like that. jsut because he thinks he could doesn't seem like him to actually try to do it. he has almost never shown greed before and now he is filled with greed to the point of disobeying Tia even.
ranting aside, im gonig to be very sad after finishing this story again. and i loved the story despite the way the story itself started to have turned awkward for me for this last battle
Best Christmas present ever

6768239 i would haunt everyone
And then there was that last line...
Either way, very epic and fun. Well done.
...And that was the second time Moon Mender died...
...But is it for real this time?
Let's see what the alternate endings have to say.
I love quotes like this. Is it a hint for continuation? Is it the dissatisfaction of a higher being? Is it the resistance of reality from someone strong willed? Either way, some sneeky shit's gonna come out of left field and change things...
