The Windows 10 Rollout! · 1:51pm Jul 29th, 2015

So, as you probably know, today's the day.

Beginning today, the free upgrade to Windows 10 will be made available to Windows 7/8.1 users.

However!

According to sources I've been checking, not everyone is going to get the upgrade today. Windows is rolling out this upgrade in waves, and starting slow, building and scaling up the rollout as they confirm successful installs and viability of the first public release of Windows 10.

Windows 10: Justifiable Concerns and Advice to Wait · 11:20am Aug 6th, 2015

This morning, I received the notification.

I can haz upgrade. The files are on my computer. One click and I'm on Windows 10.

I'm not upgrading yet.

After I backed up my essential, critical files to prepare in case I did decide to upgrade today, I did some quick research online. Specifically, I'm paying attention to what Forbes has to say about the whole thing, and their tech coverage on the Windows 10 rollout is EXTENSIVE.

The bottom line?

The Windows 10 Rollout - The Latest From Microsoft · 8:01am Jul 31st, 2015

So at around 2am Central time (an hour ago as I post this), I received a new e-mail from Microsoft.

It reads as follows:

This essentially confirms what all the tech news websites have been saying: while the launch date of Windows 10 was July 29, it could be mid to late August before every Windows user has received the upgrade.

Fucking God Dam Microsoft!!! (!!!Rant Warning!!!) · 11:15am Mar 10th, 2016

OK, I don't know if this has happened to anybody else, but today I got screwed over by fucking Microsoft. As some of you may know, Microsoft has released the windows 10 update, and me, I signed up for the upgrade, but kept it in the background for when I was ready to install it, which probably was going to be two years from now. However, for the past three days, I have had a yellow exclamation shield which tells me I have an update ready to install, but every time I shut down the computer, no

Chapters ready to go so far... · 7:28pm Feb 14th, 2024

As of this morning there are 12 chapters ready to go.

This morning something strange happened to my computer which had me in a borderline panic. It loads properly, I log in, I get the GUI ... and boom, I'm looking at a whited out window that I can't get out of. M$ help was no help, but it did eventually clear after restarting several times. And yes, an update got pushed to my machine last night.

Progress Report - 12/7/16 · 11:53pm Jul 11th, 2016

At the rate I'm going I might be able to make this kind of blog post a regular thing, famous last words.

So, chapter 5 of Window Shopping is up, and chapter 6 is onto the editing stage. You can expect to see it either first thing next week or sometime later on, but things are chugging along nicely right now. As far as literary skills go, I've taken to adding in a quick little blurb at the very beginning of each chapter, to remind me of what that chapter needs to get done.

On Birthdays and Windows · 7:41am Apr 16th, 2017

Just thought I'd catch everyone up on the events of the last couple days.

First off, Tuesday night, while I was in the back room of my apt, working, I heard a loud crash. It took me a couple minutes to be able to go investigate, and when I did, I found someone had broken my kitchen window.

Installed the Windows 10 Fall Creator's Update. · 1:10am Oct 25th, 2017

Finally we see something close to Aero from Windows 7 again!

In this case, it's the earliest form of Acrylic, which is Microsoft's new design language that they've been trying to push onto Win10 starting with this update. While it's nice to see a decent level of translucency return outside of the taskbar, action center, and Start Menu, most things that aren't made directly by Microsoft still clearly lack the translucency on their title bars like on Windows 7.

Odd Windows Discovery · 10:45pm Jul 24th, 2017

Did you know that Windows doesn't always run the program you tell it to run? You can double-click on an executable and some other executable might be run instead.

I've learned recently that Microsoft intends to discontinue MSPaint for some inexplicable reason. It doesn't require any maintenance to keep; they could easily have abandoned all future development and left it as a relic amongst all the other relics cluttering up the code base. It would've gone on working for many years to come.

As of today, I am officially retiring Dellion.

Dellion has been my trusty laptop of ten years, and a most valued companion.

It has not been an easy decision, but after careful consideration and deliberation, it has been considered best not to upgrade Dellion from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
