So, I had a time this year.
Let's start at the beginning. I was in the middle of a gap year in my studies. Basically, I didn't finish a singular math prerequisite fast enough, so I had to wait a full year to get into courses that are only offered in the fall. Two semesters idle, not really moving forward in pursuit of my dream career. I wasn't in the best emotional place a year ago.

Hey guys! Harpy here. It’s been a long while since you’ve heard my voice, and a lot has happened since. And I mean a lot. With the advent of the new year upon us, I decided to take this time to reflect on this past year and what happened, not only on FiMFiction but in my personal life as well. And yes, this is inspired by other writers and Youtubers who do the same kind of thing.
Buckle up, this is going to take a while.
I just noticed that I have been on FIMfiction for just over 3 years now. It seems like it hasn't been that long, but the years tell. I've been into reading fanfictions for years, even back when I had complete crap internet; I started in at least 2006 or 2007 on Fanfiction.net. Fanfiction has always help me enjoy a work or at least the idea more, even though on occasion I've grown to like certain fafics more than the actual show (i.e. Naruto has been shit for years now, but I can still enjoy
A year ago I published my first foray into the Optimalverse, and it seems to have done quite well for itself so far.
Yes, the irony with that name, I know.
Still, top ten. Not bad, not bad at all. 
Sadly don't have much to add about it. There was no 'aha!' moment, just a neat idea that turned out well.
Happy New Year guys, it's been so long since I've submitted anything. Maybe the reason behind that is because I seem to keep jumping from story to story. At the moment, I have over six stories sitting at 2.5k+ words, but the one most likely to be published first may be the third installment of "____________ Princess [insert mare name]" which stars... Luna.
Looking back, I must admit to having mixed feelings about my efforts on FIMfiction during 2016. I got mostly good reactions to the stories I wrote, including one (Pas de Deux) making the RCL. But if I'm reasonably reassured that my writing skills are showing some progression, I am somewhat disappointed with the quantity of words I've published on the site.
Well goodbye 2016 and hello 2017! It's that time of year folks. A lot of crazy stuff happened this year, but let us all hope that 2017 will be better. I have a ton of plans for my New Years resolution that I can't wait to start on. And I'm hoping you all do the same.
It's been two years, I guess...
Lots of things have happened... I met a lot of skilled, interesting people, got a lot of support I couldn't have dreamed of, and yet I'm as far from achieving my goals as I've always been. For that I can only apologize and hope to improve in the future.

New Year, new goals. Now that we've all mostly recovered from the hangovers of festivity, family, and alcohol alike, it's time to buckle down for the new year and everything that means.
