I just noticed that I have been on FIMfiction for just over 3 years now. It seems like it hasn't been that long, but the years tell. I've been into reading fanfictions for years, even back when I had complete crap internet; I started in at least 2006 or 2007 on Fanfiction.net. Fanfiction has always help me enjoy a work or at least the idea more, even though on occasion I've grown to like certain fafics more than the actual show (i.e. Naruto has been shit for years now, but I can still enjoy the select few golden fanfics about it, even today). Ironically, I actually came to this site before watching any of MLP. As a little something I will quickly recount how I became a MLP fan.
During the summer of 2012, I became a big of the recently completed visual novel Katawa Shoujo. Naturally, I started looking into the fanfics on the KS forums. A few months later, someone posts a link to a crossover fanfic they were writing on another site; this was a crossover with MLP. I had heard of MLP of course. It was rampant on the internet, but I mostly ignored or avoided it. While most started dissing the author for posting MLP, I decided to at least read the first chapter. It was definitely confusing without knowing the character's names, but it peaked my curiosity more (In hindsight, the fic was only subpar-to-good range). I decided to give the first few episodes a try, and before I knew it, I was hooked. That's basically it; not really much more than curiosity, but that's my story.
