Next up for Advent: a fight scene! This is the first small-scale fight I've ever written (I've written some ship action in Trailblazer and an abortive skirmish with a Hydra for Flashpoint). We'll see how this goes... 
Things are coming to a head.
John August complains that writing comedy for feature films is harder than writing comedy for TV, because TV has a laugh track (or a live studio audience--same thing for my purposes here). In film, straight-up jokes, the kind you'd think would be easiest, can fall flat because no one laughs.
To an author, the flow is everything.
The pacing, the speed at which a scene unfolds and the action is presented. Some take their time, some are done in an instant.
I have always enjoyed a lengthy scene, maybe not Quentin Tarantino long, but one where the characters have the time to have their moment in the spotlight, and their emotions are properly expressed.
I'm coloring for thee! It's going to be a little while with all the lines, but I'm enjoying how it's turning out.
Well, I think you all deserve some explanations as to my current story format.
It's all Seat of the pants, as in I just sit down without a plan, and just write whatever the hell comes to mind.
But, that's gotten me into trouble a few times, especially with the chapter, 'The Morning (The Train, Day 1)'. Without a plan, it was a bit of a...train wreck (no pun intended). (Okay, yes, pun intended.)
So, I feel you guys deserve some kind of update on what's happening with my story. Long story short, I got writers block. And it's not just with this story either. My other story is getting to the point where I finally have some other material to go on, but I need to work to build up to it. It's kind of the same problem here. I have an explanation for actions taken in previous chapters, but I don't really know how to implement them in a way that doesn't scream 'I literally pulled this excuse
There are a couple of issues with it. Primarily the fact that 99% of people doing shit are about as subtle as a bag of bricks falling on your head with their supposed 'joke.' News flash, folks. Over-the-top ridiculousness is a cheap, lame, and extremely boring approach to take. Makes me yawn as I read through the morning feed at the retarded things I see... such as the whole Facebook dealio on the Site Post. Thought I had that shit turned off, too. How annoying.
What if Celestia could only send characters like Tirek back to where they came from as they aren't from Equestria and thus, cannot be punished by Celestia and Luna, or their laws. Imagine the power the villains would wield knowing they could essentially get away with anything and she could only write a report of their actions and send it to the leaders of the land they are from.
How would that affect her rule as Princess?
OKAY! So the comments I've gotten so far have been interesting, but I'm honestly curious now. Who knows this could actually give me some thoughts on how to include the CMC into following chapters later. What do you guys think of Rainbow Dash's actions. When I was writing this chapter I made sure to do my best to make it look like things Dash would do without making it seem over dramatic or extreme. Also, Twilight slap. I have to say, that was the number one thing I had my focus on when writing

Hello all. I'm back and I got a whole new story to tell to you. I noticed a lot of my failures with The Final War. I made sure they did not show in this one. I carefully edited everything so that it made sense. Now this story does still jump however it jumps between the chapters for past and present. I may be writing a sequel that deal with the other characters and shows how they intertwine with the events that occur in this series. There are five main characters that will be most talked about.
All right! Request time! Today's topic came from in a message from a reader, who expressed concern that some of their works had quite a bit of passive voice over active voice, and wanted to change that. So they were hoping I could offer a little advice on the matter.
I can, though it might not be the advice they expect.
Equestria Trek is less dead than I thought... It looks like The Search for Fluttershy, the sequel to First Contact, is back in the forefront of my mind, and I've found a title for the first chapter. Still need to do more writing to get it up to my 2k word minimum, and this chapter will likely be heavy on describing what characters and the U.S.S. Baltimore look like, but I'll try and make up for the lack of action with good character development.

Grr... Work is making it hard to get stuff done, especially because I keep mucking up on this next chapter. Things are starting to come to a head in this Alternate Universe and the story is definitely proving itself difficult to write correctly as we are quickly reaching a turning point in the action. This is one of the reasons I considered writing the whole thing first and then releasing chapters over the course of several months, but getting feedback from readers while writing has merits that
Hey people who... actually read this, just giving you an update on when the next chapters (yes plural) are coming out.
Resident Evil Game-athon isn't going as quickly as I had hoped, due to... certain circumstances (waste-oid of a boyfriend of my housemate using the living room all day EVERY DAY, & my work), so I've barely gotten started on 4, when I had hoped I'd be near done or finished with 5 (playing in chronological order, after all).
In light of a wonderfully scathing review of Dragoon Wars in Zero Punctuation style, I have been taking a look back on the writing I have done, and among other things, I have really been questioning one critical part of how I write. My emotional description and its role in pacing. Depending on the sort of answer I can get and/or find, it may affect how I continue writing all of my stories. (It's a situation like this that makes me wish I could tag multiple stories with the blog)
Maybe this is just phase, it can't just come and go? Can it?
I mean really, come on, what's the point of doing this or anything if there's no inspiration? Better just give up.
I have a cool OC and I'm trying to build a story around it and the two princesses', filled with action and drama, love and hatred, melancholic tone and a great tragedy in the end...
