If you come to an epiphany while driving through a rainstorm, does it count as a shower thought? I ask because I had two today, one on each leg of my commute. One I was able to expand into the latest Dueling Keyboards short. The other I present below:
It has been awhile since I last posted here, so I thought of posting once again. Of course there's not much to tell, though I did finish a story already and will have it up here soon. On a personal front my job is doing quite well. Or jobs, since I took two. One is as a sports writer and the other as a forums admin though for the latter I am still in training, so to speak.
Some will say the worst part of writing is the beginning. Others the end. Others the middle, and middles are in fact massive bastards. A middle needs to bridge the beginning and the end without getting off-topic or lost in the weeds, and it's hard.
But even so the middle isn't the worst part for me. The worst part is the bit in between projects.
Maybe in a month or so I would, but for now I am loving it, more than a week after I have bought it. Why I haven't discovered mechanical keyboards earlier I'll never know. Maybe it's because they're expensive, and they are. That's one caveat for those who might be thinking they can just go out and buy one. But it would be all worth it, let me assure you. And you will feel the difference right away as well if you have been using membrane keyboards for so long.
I should've probably waited on this one a bit more, but I've held it reserve for far too long. There's a new Dueling Keyboards short up based on "The Perfect Pear." Avoid if you still haven't seen it yet. For everyone else, enjoy.
A new chapter of Changeling Doll: White Lie is up! Go check it out!
Merry Jinglemas! If you enjoyed my entry in the exchange, you may want to take a look at the epilogue I've posted in Dueling Keyboards. As noted there, I felt it didn't merit inclusion in the story proper, but I did like it enough to preserve it in the shorts collection.
Also, whether or not you celebrate today's other notable holiday, I hope you and yours are having a good day.
Then Goes the Neighboorhood has somehow expanded into three chapters and is competing for time with looking for work and two different game projects to which I'm lending a hand. In the meantime, I've added something to Dueling Keyboards, a bit of a thought exercise regarding Discord and "To Where and Back Again."
Dueling Keyboards, my short story anthology, has updated with a new entry based on my "Ravnica with ponies" setting. (Hence the Implicit Neighs tag.) This one was originally written on a typewriter at the Last Bronycon and subsequently expanded when I finally figured out how to end it. Here's hoping you enjoy.
Slight derp-up on my part. Briefly published the newest Dueling Keyboards short in Group Precipitation instead. Which, given the subject matter, is actually kind of appropriate. (The mistake, that is.) In any case, it's where it belongs now. My apologies for any confusion.
So I got a NEW MECHANICAL KEYBOARD!! (truck announcer voice echo), with some lovely Cherry MX Browns... It feels sooooooooooooo good to type on that I had to do something with it. So I wrote a chapter of White Lie.
It's just that... well... it's the chapter after the next chapter, so I still have that to write...
...whoops.
There has been a crap ton of things that have been happening as of late.
I mean, most of it real life stuff and I don't think I should really get into that as I'm not really too sure if anyone really minds reading that kind of dramatic blah.
either way though, good stuff to at least note is:
I got a replacement computer, so no more typing from a wireless keyboard connected to my phone. yay!
Okay, I have officially reached the point where I can no longer claim ignorance of my own horse fame. I have been invited to be a curator of the Royal Canterlot Library. Since this largely involves reading fics, it shouldn't be too much of an imposition on me. We'll see if that thought process proves to be logic or hubris.
One of the fun things we do during Writeoff Competitions is making mashups, blending together the titles of two or more entries and summarizing the plot of the result. On a related note, I've noted some similarities—parallels, one might say—in the titles of some of my recent stories. On another related note, there's a new story in Dueling Keyboards.
Once again, hey to anyone reading this. "A Guide to Herd Dynamics" is still being worked on, so don't worry. This time, the game Nier: Automata consumed my soul, but I finally finished it so now other things can slip between the cracks. Also, two main characters of next chapter are a bit hard (no set canon personalities for them, and fanon is ALL over the place). Also, dialogue will be... interesting. In all the good and bad ways.
Actually, the keyboard was already bought last week. This is the keyboard that I have wanted, the Razer Black Widow Chroma Overwatch keyboard. It is a beautiful keyboard, and I am just happy to have it right now. Of course, now that I have it, my next target is the Razer Deathadder Overwatch mouse, to pair it up with it.
Hey all. Got a few things to go over, some more overdue than others.
