Now that Fimfiction has opened up to G5 stories, I would like to see the site go the whole hog and cater for all generations. True, I wouldn't expect a massive number of fics about Posey and Gusty or Melody and Patch or whoever, but why not? Now G5 fics are here, Fimfiction can't continue to pretend that Friendship is Magic or even G4 in general is the defining factor linking all the stories on the site. If someone wants to write a fic about G3 Minty going on adventures in the world of Friendship Gardens (the G2 PC game) then I don't see why that shouldn't be hosted here.

On a related note: even if it doesn't have much of a fanfiction scene, I've always wondered if Them's Fightin' Herds' tag should be standalone. Given its FiM roots, I can't shake the sense that it's at least worth consideration.
Granted, that isn't really all that relevant to the matter of the other MLP generations, but it felt like the best contribution I could make to this conversation. Sorry.

We’ve allowed stories about previous gens before, but as you pointed out, there are very few of them.
This site needs more stories about Minty's socks.

Interesting, thanks. I think all the old-gen stories I've come across myself have had at least some G4 connection. For example, this one (which I've never read). It's hard to find them, of course, given the lack of a series tag for pre-G4 stuff, but I'm actually glad to know they've been allowed.

Nothing says Christmas, etc etc. Also about the incredibly brutal world of G1, where ponies get the choice of jumping into a lava pit or being thrown in. (Okay, they're rescued. But still.)

I think stories about Them's Fightin' Herds could at least be written as an AU, preferably in a way that won't completely confuse people who know nothing about the game.
