Ah... hahaha. Oh the naivety. Little did you know, Rego, that after 3 months of writer's block, your life would be thrown into chaos by forces plaguing your roommate that would cause you to have to switch jobs to a career you hate which would kill your desire to write AND, when you started thinking about getting back into it, you see a problematic headlines and the state of the world causing you to spiral into a creative slump that made you abandon horsewords altogether.
Hoo boy. But that was 4 years ago. This is today. What is today? Well I am writing from my apartment in Japan now. Now, you're 32, having just gotten though a summer vacation alone in quarantine. Powering through several video games and feeling like something is missing. Then, a game comes out you've been waiting for a while, Boyfriend Dungeon. You enjoy the game, its writing, its romance. It sparks something you had buried in shame years ago having been unable to follow through with your creative commitments. Then, you buy the soundtrack and start listening to it.
Then, an urge to read something else pops in your head from nowhere seemingly unrelated to the music. You want to reread a story you haven't thought about in a while. Not a comic, not a book, but a MLP fanfic. Despite having claimed a different story as your favorite on the site, this one always came back.
You then go from there to several other old fics your remember and read like Fractured Sunlight, Unfamiliar Patterns, Reticence, Queen of Hearts, and you feel that old inspiration again... that nagging self-loathing you feel every time you look at your Google Drive and see over 40K worth of neglected words with a story you felt so inspired to write years ago.
So what does all this mean? Not sure, really. I am going to do my damndest to actually get a multichapter story done. Lord knows I have several of them clawing at the back of my mind which I've expertly suppressed in favor of wasting time. Time to get my act together and multitask. I can work, write, and learn a language at the same time. I don't need to burn days on end playing video games and feeling bad about not streaming them on Twitch.
Time to finally feel the drop of the bass on Electro Swing. Here's the first two chapters, which were actually one chapter until it breached the 8K word mark and I decided to split them. Please enjoy it if you do, I will do my best to write it.
