Thanks for Two Weeks of My Life I Will Never Get Back, COVID-19 · 9:57am March 27th

Hey! Sorry for the sudden radio silence on my end. Kinda died for a bit, but I got better... ish...

Still not at 100% after two weeks of this nonsense.

Boy howdy do I regret constantly forgetting to get my COVID booster shot. I'm highly susceptible to diseases like this. When I was in ninth grade, I basically got sick every six weeks. I'd get a progress report and strep throat except for Christmas break. That time, I got a progress report and a full-blown case of the flu. It reminds me of a funny, ace-brained story.

Content Warning: Probably Oversharing
So, I grew up in Texas, and anyone who knows anything about how Texas education works will know Sex Ed teaches abstinence, or at least it did back in 2003 when I was in high school. Haha... that was 21 years ago... I'm old. Anyway, we had someone come to our school to give us the sex talk, which boiled down to a rather aggressive man coming to warn us about the dangers of sex. Blanking out the next part because it's very charged. "Keep the snake in its cage" and "girls who do this, *spread legs out* get this! *uses his hands to pantomime a living organism coming out. I say organism because the hand gesture looked more like a creature with tendrils than a human*" A very chill person, right? In hindsight, he would've fit right in at the capital on Jan 6 if you catch my meaning.

So, after he gives this presentation and everyone else rightfully starts walking out of being yelled at by an insane person. Meanwhile, part of the guy's talk had a warning about HIV/AIDS, STDs. and being immunocompromised, and how that could be passed down from an infected mother to a child. That part stuck out to me and I started to worry, not because I'd had a chance to get an STD, but I was worried that I'd somehow gotten one passed to me because I was sick all the time as a kid. It would've been a shock to my parents too considering neither of them had one either. So, me being the innocent, sheltered kid who didn't know was ace and not interested in sex at all talking to a abstinence-only proselytizer, freaking out that he somehow has an illness he couldn't have possibly gotten until the guy finally shoo's me away with non-answers because I guess he thinks I'm trolling him is hilarious to me in hindsight. I might've been a straight A-B student, but I was so dumb about anything beyond school subjects and video games.

End of Content Warning Segment

Anyway, when I was finally well enough to do something other than lay in bed and watch YouTube, I finished up Ryza 3 and then decided to play the copy of CrossCode that's been sitting in my Siwtch fo a few years. I really wish I would've played CrossCode first in hindsight. Ryza was fun, but playing CrossCode while on these meds was not easy, and it's not an easy game to begin with. If you haven't played that game yet, I cannot stress how much you should remedy that situation. I haven't played a game that has tied its story so well with the gameplay ever, and that's coming from someone who didn't think Undertale would be beaten in structuring gameplay and narrative together. Lea is now up on the shelf of top-tier characters that I love. Up there with Catra, Toriel, and Meta Knight. Admittedly, Meta Knight is only up there because I liked him growing up. He doesn't really deserve that spot outside of "He's cool!" to young me. Bomberman would be up there too, but I knocked him down after Konami got their hands on him. A childhood putting characters up on pedestals via the power of nostalgia.

So, what's next for me after finishing up Electro Swing? In the short term, recovering. Brain is still foggy from this infection. Then its in the air between formatting Electro Swing for Lulu publication by learning LaTeX or Scribus, or starting to edit the currently released chapters of Unchanging Truths to get me back in the mindset for that story. I need to country-fry the descriptions a little since I lost the voice after chapter 1 anyway. Decisions, decisions. Either way, hope you enjoyed this little blog post and its weird story.

See you in the next blog!

If you have the chance, don't get COVID, but do get CrossCode. It made me tear up multiple times with heartwarming fuzziness.

Mostly comes from knowing that I'm a hypocrite. I will say one of my favorite characters is Meta Knight for no reason other than he's cool in my book when I will turn around in the same breath and use Shadow the (H)Edgehog as my go-to for a poorly written edgy punchline. The only thing I can say in my defense is that, to my knowledge, Kirby has never tried to take itself too seriously story-wise whereas the Sonic franchise is always wondering "where that damn chaos emerald" is.

Really, really glad you're feeling better.

Guess who just got the bug :pinkiesick:

No! You're not supposed to follow my example! I hope you get well soon. Have a dislike for my loathing of getting down with the sickness.
