Horse-words, now available in Spanish · 1:00pm Jan 31st, 2021
Sometimes, life just drops heartening messages into your inbox, and last night, I received an especially gratifying one courtesy of SPANIARD KIWI.
SPANIARD KIWI, if Google Translate's not lying to me about their bio, likes to translate stories about colourful ponies, and by god, they aren't lying. They've translated not one, not two, but thirteen of my stories into Spanish, from older fare like The White Horse, to new nonsense like The Prince, the Mockingbird, and the Dreadful Twilight Sparkle, and even fifty-thousand-word beasts like Treasures.
There's a list of the stories and their translations below. I've also updated each of the story's descriptions with links to the translations, as well as updating them with links to other translations folk've done in the past. (I may be dreadfully slow about basic story maintenance, but I do sometimes maybe do it eventually.)
It's a tremendous undertaking, and I'm very much grateful to SPANIARD KIWI for it. If you're at all interested in my ravings parsed into a Romance-language form, do check their work out, as well as all the other translations in their catalogue.

(Besides translations, existence continues apace at this end. Lockdown's knackered my writing mood a bit, but hope springs eternal for it to eventually un-knacker. Hope you're all keeping fine.)
Here's hoping for that un-knackering. Congrats on all the translations, and a big thanks to KIWI for doing so.
Nice! That's quite a hefty selection.
I hear you about the knackering. Hopefully, soon, we can all be roaming free in the sunlit uplands they keep promising us. Wait. Uplands means scotland, doesn't it? Since when did Scotland have sunlit anything?

Fingers crossed for un-knackering some time in the near future. Daring's been left in suspense for Cormaer stories a while now.

Ah yes, that Daystar legend. Let's not waste time on those sorts of unsupported myths.
Oh cool. This is the same guy who did the Spanish translation for Just Dodge! Looks like he really went above and beyond this time.

They've got a good track record for this, it looks like. Now I've joined your august company in their gallery.
Very nice of them indeed

It surely qualifies SPANIARD KIWI for sainthood, though I may be biased in that assessment.

But the legends say, on the longest day of the longest month of the longest year, she'll come back to bring eternal sunshine. And it has been the second week of April for nearly 10 months now...

Very cool! Always glad to see people's fics translated into other languages. The older fandom knows English pretty universally, but the younger crowd might find this a great way into horsewords.

It's good to see fics translated into other languages, and it's especially fun when it's your own fic - there's a certain feeling of discovery, poring through the translation and seeing how your words have panned out, how the translator's tackled certain phrases and wordplay, and how it's been retold, in a sense. I remember that for the Chinese translation of one story, 'love-birds' seemed to have been rendered into 'mountain-owls'. Whether that's the phrase's Chinese equivalent or just an artefact of Google Translate, I was charmed.
I only know a smattering of Spanish, so reading a whole story might be something of a challenge. But congratulations nevertheless.

I hope so! There are stories in this site that deserve to be read by more people, like the Carabas' ones.
5445256
No judgement on that front. My own functional knowledge of Spanish begins and ends at 'Dos cervezas, por favor'. Limited utility there, even if the utility can be fun.

Muchos Gracias Señor/Señora Kiwi. I only know español un poco. Hope I got that right.
Congratulations. :)
(And good luck there, and thanks. :))

Much obliged.
Congratulations. It's wonderful to know your stories will, deservedly, be available to even more people

Thank you! It's gratifying to know the world's Spanish-speakers can no longer escape my particular vein of nonsense.
