Howdy, folks! First and foremost, as always, Adorable Applejack:
Now then...
Y'all know by now that I lurve me some shipping. I've done so many blogs talking about my favorite parings and art dumps of fluffy romance that it should be clear. What should also be clear is that one of my favorite ships these days is YonaBar.

Their personalities, their color schemes, the size difference, I love it so damn much. So I am always on the look out for new art to squee over. And wouldn't you know it, a few months ago I happened on one that just sparked ideas for days.
The Braeburn and Little Strongheart ship has been around since the first time we saw them in Over A Barrel. Sadly this would also be the last time we saw Strongheart, or any buffalo for that manner, which is a shame. Think about it, wouldn't it have been really cool to see Zecora interacting with a buffalo shaman or something? Anywho, BraeHeart was sadly eclipsed pretty quickly by another Braeburn ship:

Still, when I saw that pic of BraeHeart and YonaBar, my first thought was... well, okay my actual first thought was the first time Strongheart and Yona's backs are turned, Braeburn and Sandbar hoof bump.

But my second thought was about what possible complications could come from these relationships. I mean, in our world, couples where the woman is even just a little bit taller than the man can get odd looks, let alone if, say, she was over six foot and he was around five. That may weigh on a guy's mind. I mean, isn't the man supposed to be the one who protects his wife? That's how it goes, right? It may make him pause. But what if an old acquaintance has gone through the exact same thing? And hey, isn't FamousLastWords taking commissions...
Keep Your Chin Up and Your Expectations High
Yona and Sandbar are happily married, but nasty talk around town about their size difference have Sandbar a bit on edge. How can he be the stallion she deserves if he doesn't fit into the traditional role of being the bigger and stronger one?
Luckily, he runs into a stallion who went through something similar and gets a few pointers on what masculinity and love truly mean.
SO, yeah, FLW did this for me, and I friggin' love it. If you like fluffy romance, cute yaks/ponies/buffalo/hippogriffs/griffons, and some kinda deep cuts on what it really means to be a man, I cannot recommend this enough. Famous did a phenomenal job bringing what I asked for to life. Please give it a read, and if you want an idea of your own brought to life, consider seeking him out.

With how much writers pulled from s1/s2 in later seasons and the focus on befriending other cultures im actually really suprised LS didnt come up again. Looking forward to reading that story!

5398413 Because writers generally don't like writing other writer's characters. You have to re-introduce the character anyway for watchers/readers who have not seen the episode the character first showed in. So it's easier to just make a new and special one.
